[RD] Daily Graphs and Charts II: Another 10,000 to come.

So... the US people really think that on average 1/3 of their population lives in New York city, and another 3rd lives in California?
I assume these questions were not asked together...

And how the heck do you get to 20% transgender? Do they realize that this would mean that every 5th person they know should be one? Do the people in the US not learn percentages in school? Same with 27% muslim, 30% jewish and 40% military veterans. (+ add the 58% Christian, making it a very interesting religious mix for some people...)
Muslim, Jewish, atheist and Catholic adds up to about 130%, New York Texas and California to about 100%.

I'm not interpreting this as a US thing, more as showing a cognitive bias in proportion guessing. When we're uncertain we collectively seem to bias towards 50:50.

I haven't tried them yet! My friend always buys the new insect flour, hoping to find a batch that works well. It might take some acclimating

How about bugs? 😋

Did you choose your home because it has the highest concentration of critical raw material deposits in Europe? Is that four different minerals under Thessaloniki?

The win probability from tonight's Dallas Mavericks vs New York Knicks game. That first dramatic drop went from 99.1% for NY to win to 50.0% in 26.1 seconds.

Goes to show being rich doesn't imply you make smarter decisions
Because even 20% for the rich give up such pleasures as beer?

I don't think abstaining from drinking entirely is necessarily 'smarter' than drinking responsibly.

We just saw a correlation between wealth and consumption, so the 'benefit' from it might be explained by that. Enjoying a pint doesn't make you healthier, but being able to enjoy a pint means you're healthier (for example).

What's a unit here?

Abstinence of poisonous substances is much easier than trying to walk a very fine line.

The point is the effects, if you have to have so little you can barely feel anything I don't get it.

As abstinence is very easy for me I'm happy to continue. I may miss out on social benefits but drinking for something to do is a bit dull anyway.

Yeah, one of the main points of health besides general well being is to be able to 'get away w stuff' (a virus, small injuries, general stress, etc)

With male peacocks, having a large and shiny tail is a demonstration of overall fitness and is found to be attractive to peahens. I'm not sure that alcohol intake capacity of human males is seen by women as an overall sign of fitness. :mischief:
