I guess many countries have similar land ownership distributions. In the UK the effort was done to get the picture.
Land is still a key factor in wealth distribution from real estate effects, especially in cities.

What does "unaccounted" mean? For some someone owns the land... right?

There is a Land Registry
If land has not been sold, there is no obligation to be registred in that public Land Registry.

It seems still odd. The government must know it. Are there no taxes ?
How do they know who to address for something ?
But if the government does know it....
How can it be that the LAW on the right of information does not apply ?
 
A lot of land is owned by "trusts".

A lot of land is owned by "limited liability partnerships".

Who the ultimate owners are is unclear.

You could argue there's 3. Building restrictions have the effect of dulling competition because of fewer supply.


That is true. I'm not sure I'd call it a non-competitive market, but it is certainly a market with artificial supply constraints.
 
What's the line? Is it better to be above or below it?
 
I assume that it's an energy-efficiency line and that you want to be under it.
 
Better public transportation for starters, I presume.
