All distinct parts of the Dutch Kingdom are countries . Basically like the UK.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands consists out of the Republic of the Netherlands, Curacao, Aruba and Sint Maarten (at that time the islands were apparently the country the Dutch Antilles). The Netherlands has a few islands in the Carribiean, which belong to the Republic, and are therefore in the EU, Schengen and Eurozone, whereas the 3 mentioned countries are not.
