Define: Elitist

The liberal establishments are below the elites that rule. So are the conservative churches. The elites are above and beyond the liberal and conservative dichotomy.

The liberal establishment is the establishment because they are the one's who have been the dominate force in culture, politics, the media, and academia for the last several decades.

I can see them pretty much everywhere in cultural and academic environment. But they're hardly the real elites.

So people like George Soros, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Barrak Obama, Micheal Moore, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Zuckerberg, etc. they wouldn't be liberal elites?

Common now.

When I read this thread title, before delving into it, I immediately had a positive connotation.
There's a distinction between elite and elitism, though, in the same way that there's a difference between commune and communism. The former is independently positive, but can become negative when associated with the latter. Whereas it's good to strive to be elite, or perhaps even to be an elite, elitism is more akin to meritocracy or perhaps oligarchy.

Or worse, elitism would be closer to aristocracy or hierarchy.

I see you've been avoiding them in academia. No doubt you think they are "the one's who have been the dominate force" in basic education so you avoided that as well.

Honestly, I'm fairly certain that I'm more educated than you are.

Elitists are leftists who think people are stupid racists for making decisions they do not like and believe that their liberalism is the only right ideology and all those who oppose it are either bigots or rich people.
Elitist - The liberal establishment, liberal Hollywood, liberal academia, and their corporate presstitute media that lied shamelessly all election about Hillary's chances.
I think you've both fundamentally misunderstood the question. You were asked to define elitism, but you've only identified a group of people you would identify as elitists; you haven't actually told us what you think "elitism" is. You're approaching it all backwards.

LOL...just skipped the basics of English in your rush for higher education?

By the way, in this your "certainty" is based on no information...oh, wait, you usually do work from no information.

Do tell, what do you have for education? I'd like to hear it.

Why? You didn't need any information to be "fairly certain" a few minutes ago. Why don't you just stick to running your mouth without having a clue? It's so you.

So, not a whole lot of education huh?

Enough to know your command of English in the post I commented on was grade school level.

Meanwhile, the "who can claim the most education anonymously on the internet" game is stupid, even for you. I'm smart enough to know I can't win that game because you are a well known liar.

Your lack of response is very telling.

LOL...have you gone blind? I did respond.

So, tell me, you overly educated and handsome devil, in this proposed matching of education how do you propose to verify anything? I think you are a bald faced liar, and I'm pretty sure most posters here would say I'm probably correct. Sooooo...how do you plan to prove anything? Scan a copy of your degree from Civman University?

You are showing how smart you aren't here.

Not having as much education as others isn't something you should be ashamed of, or feel the need to hide. Just don't bring it up if you aren't willing to discuss it.

There's something rather hypocritical about someone who brags about his education, sports an avatar with a halo around his head, yet rants at and slings insults at people he accuses of being elitist.

I honestly never really knew about that distinction. Going off your example: Commune has communal as an adjective. In the same way elitism has always been the adjective to elite for me, without much of the political connotation. I don't even think elitist means to "strive to be an elite", to me it just means having high standards. Obviously that may be wrong seeing as you interpret that word completely different around these parts. I just went from the German word (elitär) and assumed it's similiar to the English one

So salty.

Liberals never take it well when they lose arguments.
I'm not the one to whom you've been bragging about how "educated" you are. :coffee:

The only argument I lost tonight was one about Star Trek, and I'm honest enough to admit it.
