Are we sure that these audio tracks are related to civilization? It could definitely be another firaxis game

indeed, if I was a betting man I would say almost positively it was for X-Com

That is pretty interesting in and of itself. They would be doing art work on something right on the heels of an expansion.

Xcom has a history of DLCs that add graphical stuff only, like new uniforms and hairstyles for your troops. I wasn't joking when I said it might be a DLC with new interiors. City maps have lots of stores and bureaus iirc, but no toilets as of yet (I haven't played the expansion yet though). Fire would then probably be the sound when you hit a toilet... and duck something a soldier says when seeking cover behind one.
But then again, it might just be a codename, just like you said.

I knew it:

According to TV Tropes, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is very similar to a certain Firaxis game, albeit for much younger players.

I can see Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Firaxis co-developing a game.

Civ for the Switch confirmed!

The soldiers in XCOM shout stuff when they're under fire, so I'm guessing it's a special comment for when they're behind a toilet.

"Toilet fire"...in Norwegian, that is an expression. If there's a fire in the toilet, that means you have little time, and need to act quickly. Probably not what they are referring to. Perhaps they are just messing with us.

As a strike against the "It's for XCOM" theories - When Firaxis released the expansion for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, that was the final piece of new content. I would expect them to be operating a similar way in regards to XCOM 2; now that the expansion for it has been released, they are probably done with it. For one thing, with the expansion, the game is pretty close to having as much content as you could possibly squeeze into it without it going too far and becoming an overwhelming mess

Hmm... this was interesting to me. I had assumed they just did wiki research.

Given how much money Fraxis likely spent developing Civ VI, I would assume they could easily afford to hire a historian or geographer for some part time contracting work. Putting together a small encyclopedia type dossier for each civilization, should not be that time consuming or expensive, while significantly adding to quality of the game.

But who would be the leader though?
Very likely Princess Peach or Mario

That is what Wikipedia is for if Firaxis decides to be cheap

Its nice though, that for once we have an idea of how Firaxis spends all the money we give them for DLC and the like - they contract experts and spend it on thorough research instead of doing it on the cheap to maximise profits :)

I would love to play as the Mushroom Kingdom civ.

If Nintendo actually wanted to make an empire management game, they could make it a Fire Emblem spinoff, just scale it up to deal with whole kingdoms rather than individuals

The problem is that Wikipedia is highly unreliable when it comes to history (at least the English, German and French ones). You might be lucky and get something good, or something outdated or plain wrong. In extreme cases, states have employees that manipulate Wikipedia articles about them and their history, like in Poland, Turkey and China for example. Others are highly controversial because the topic might be, too.
And a scholarly text is never cheap by the way. Well, considering Firaxis overall budget, it is. But it is easily 3000$+ for each dossier. It would also be strange if you find people with some voice acting skills for all those languages and base your civs on 'hearsay history'.
I wish other companies would work like this as well.

Has anyone any clue what the current depot changes of "public" and "maclegacy" could mean?
