Never give up on your dreams. I for one hope that 2K will listen to the fans for once and give us DLC that lets us re-enact the classic Southeast Asian naval skirmishes between French Canada (led by the Trung Sisters) and the Amish (led by Richard Nixon.)

Tribhuwana and Hayam Wuruk were the reigning monarchs when Gajah Mada was Prime Minister, so they'd be alternatives that encompass the same period of Majapahit expansion without using the same leader.

I don't know I still think gajah mada is a better leader choice since it has become a sort of national hero for Indonesians if I'm correct, it's kinda like Washington for America.
I present you the man responsible for propagandazing Gajah Mada's current look and exploits into the cultural hero we Indonesian know nowadays.
Surely any resemblance must be that of pure coincidences.
I think the propaganda in search for pre-colonial unitiy between the islands and the javanization regime by our 2nd president got sooo bad that about half a dozen locations across Indonesia have claimed to be Gajah Mada's tomb or atleast the place where he moksa'd into the next realm. Or even some hardline muslim clerics that just can digest the fact that someone out of their beliefs could accomplished so much and claimed that Gajah Mada was a muslim by a fantasy name of Gaj Ahmad and Majapahit was a muslim kingdom based on a single, (read: one) coin with arabic inscriptions found in a candi structure.
Its crazy.

I would like to hear from you which leader should be the best option for your country, is gajah mada good enough? I'm curious to hear the point of view of a person that actually could be related to the topic in hand

I personally didnt care that much as long as Indonesia is in the game. Majapahit leaders seemed to be the most likely since they are popular and they do spread their mandala influence everywhere.
Gajah Mada is good, as his stardom makes him very recognizable. Hayam Wuruk's name ring a bell in our heads, but clearly was eclipsed by its prime minister. Raden Wijaya or Tribhuana Tunggadewi makes sense to be included, as they are the founder and a women ruler, and I personally belief that the latter had higher chance to be featured looking at current "frame" the american gaming industry is in right now.
I personally just want a non-javanese ruler, but even I think that Firaxis better take the safe bet and pander to the main demographic in my country that could buy the game to enjoy the DLC. Even Srivijaya might be too fringe imo. Hence is why I made those leaderscreen with Sultan Hasanuddin from South Celebes and Soekarno from modern indonesia, (with plans for Mulawarman of Borneo and Baabullah of Ternate, the spice islands) as they are the intresting leaders to fill the map and at least would justifies the name "Indonesia" as a civ name, as simply naming it "Majapahit" wont sell, but making it strictly javanese in its uniques felt like a waste of opportunities.

Since srivijaya was a Malay Kingdom I presume in Sumatra there's a large Malay minority am I correct? I really don't know much about this part of the world so bear with me, so is it feasible to have the srivijaya empire enter the game as Malaysia? It's a tricky question I know but this kind of stuff usually gets banned for fuelling separatist movements, and since Indonesia isn't homogeneous ethnically, could cause some issues, I remember reading something about the Indonesian half of New Guinea that wanted to be part of Papua New Guinea once and the whole story was controversial.
I just wanted to know since I liked the idea of a majapahit/Indonesia and a srivijaya/Malaysia split
I don't know about Indonesia, Firaxis doesn't like to change their work (including fixing bugs, which never happens ), and there is a Jakarta city-state in game...

That could be easily surpassed by making the capital actually majapahit so it is historically correct even, Jakarta was the capital only under Dutch colonial rule.

It's not like the Jakarta suzerainty bonus is so distinctive that they couldn't apply it to Manilla or Singapore. But if Indonesia is mostly Majapahit, it wouldn't even include Jakarta. It was one of the few regions of the archipelago that remained outside of Gajah Mada's control.

It's for the same reason why Hong Kong isn't on China's city list, even if Hong Kong were not a city-state. The same can be said for Granada and Spain.
Err no. Srivijaya is, most expert agrees, to be based in South Sumatra, strictly Indonesian territorry. Even if there are someone that claimed otherwise, it was the Thailand scholars and even that werent popularly known outside of Thailand. Srivijaya already went past their glory days by the time of Majapahit emergence, and Majapahit never really got a "rival" from that area afaik.
Making it a Malaysia civ would probably get some backlash as it would seemed that "Malingsia" had stole another Indoensian culture and claim it as their own just like they did with our islands, some of our songs, and our fabrics. It wont look good for Firaxis. It would be a more disrectpectful Catherine de Medici debacle again. Srivijaya by blood is probably the precursor of modern malay, but malay as an cultural identity that we came to know today came centuries and centuries after them, influenced by the islamic culture and not the indianized medieval south east asian states that Srivijaya is.
I honestly just want bug fixes, more Diplomatic options, UI changes, and more gameplay features added and if ever a huge Earth Map and TSL. It's become quite obvious that we won't be seeing the Dutch, Ottomans, or a Native American Civ, till an expansion. Probably.

You know what would be grand? And Indian Ocean Trade scenario. A Swahili nation, India and Indonesia/Siam having to earn the most in trade while avoiding pirates and other interference. That would be grand.
I always believed there would be two African civs this "summer," and this would be an amazing way to do it.

Maybe base it on the Kilwa empire and have the great mosque of Kilwa or the royal palace as wonders, as a leader I would use al Assam ibn sulaiman or more commonly known as abu'l-Mawahib " the gift ...something I don't remember in Swahili"
