Do Star Wars fans not know that the series is intended for children?

Some of us have known this trend for a long time, and will be quietly observing this thread while deviously twirling our 'staches :mischief:

Edit: Ok woah, to clarify - not the trend of arguing over whether this is going to turn into an Asian child-rape thread. I meant as referring to the OP - the various trends/culture among diehard Star Wars fans.

So why do mature adults desire to regress into an earlier phase in their social and psychological development in watching this film series? Why the infantilization? Why don't they instead watch movies of far superior enjoyment and aesthetic taste?

Many mature adults were kids when it came out.

Japan's culture is entirely based on the sexualization of childhood, so try again.
Whoa, their culture is based upon the sexualisation of childhood? I think you're going out on a pretty thin limb there. I don't think sushi or puro resu has much to do with the sexualisation of childhood.

Comics are by definition aimed at children.
I have a comic I'd like to give to your children.
It's a personal favorite of mine, it's called Bullseye's Greatest Hits.
Here's a spoiler: Bullseye Kills EVERYONE in a horrifically violent manner.

Well, then you have things like Berserk.

EDIT - Anyways, we're getting off topic. I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying media that is aimed at children. Taking it too seriously, on the other hand, is kinda sad. Love it for what it is.

well most of the adults that love it were children when they saw it.

Other than that sometimes you want a deep complex story and sometimes you just want to sit back and watch a good vs evil movie.

I wouldn't say Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back were aimed at kids, but you saw it starting with ROTJ, and when Phantom Menace was released it was totally for kids, and it totally lost me as a fan.

And if you disagree with me, then you're probably a racist.

Absolutely. ROTJ exchanged Wookiees for teddy bears (excuse me, Ewoks ) and decided not to kill Han, which would have been the ultimate culmination of his story arc - though, as a fan of the novels, I'm quite glad he didn't die. Then the prequels just took it further. Frigging Jar Jar.

I don't see how that statement is relevant here, unless you're mad at some of us for hating Ewoks, though then, if you disagree, you probably support Ewok bestiality.

I will continue to be a fan of Pokemon until the day I die. That doesn't keep me from appreciating Asimov and Wells.

This.

I think I will be 30 and still playing Pokemon Emerald on Visual Boy Advance. (althoguh I haven't played it for over a year... :p )

He says that at the end of all of his posts. It's his way of making fun of the people who claim that anyone who disagrees with Obama is racist.

Episode I? Obviously for children.

Children just love treaty disputes, trade embargoes and senatorial procedure. When I was 10 years old I always woke up early and watched an hour of C-SPAN before school. But by the time Episode I came out I had outgrown my intense love of international politics and such.

Episode III too.

Children just love seeing people completely dismembered and then left to burn alive.
