I wouldn't say it is a silly concept. There are a number of belief systems in which the idea makes sense; I don't believe in them but I wouldn't say such a thing is impossible.

A ghost, if you will. But I don't believe that the souls of the dead leave behind any reminder of their past human lives, save in the hearts of their loved ones or in physical objects that said loved ones cherish

I saw my dead (well just dead) grandmother. That said ghost was see throw but you can see them also. It was very scary crap!

I do not believe in ghosts. There is enough in the world to fear without introducing the fantastic. I fear giant kitties, especially when I ride in the wilderness by moonlight, but not much else.

As a former believer in ghosts, I think there's a lot about them to scare you. They can possess your body and make you do terrible things. They can appear as wormy, gooey, or desiccated corpses. They can move objects around and cause harm.
