Recently Amazon announced that they were selling 1 million Kindles a week in the lead-up to Christmas, and I've noticed seeing more Kindles, Nooks, et. al. in airports in general. So I'm curious, have CFC'ers embraced e-readers, or do we prefer regular books?

Myself, I've stuck with books for now. I don't reckon I read enough books for e-readers to be a worthwhile investment cost-wise, and I also don't expect they'd make me enjoy reading good books more than I currently do. But clearly more and more people are buying them, and I can see where they can be useful for searching and notes.

I got one for Christmas, and I'd recommend it. Books are probably still going to be my norm, but it's certainly convenient.

I don't have an eReader myself, but my sister got a Nook Color for Christmas which I've played around with during the last few days.

What poll option covers "no, but I've been reading ebooks on my laptop and thinking about buying one because free books are awesome"?

Kindle. But I have it setup that the name of the book shows up at the top of the eReader. So when I'm on the subway, the cute college chick can still see I'm reading The Count of Monte Cristo. So it works just like a real book.

How you do that?

Got one myself and been enjoying the hell out of it, so many free books I have acquired and it can hold everything, from my college material to random books I've found online.

No, I regard them with suspicion and contempt and refer to real books as...well, "real books" to get my point across.

No. At some point I likely will. But they will have to get better displays first.

Displays are already almost perfect, as readable as any real paper, specially the pearl display. The only problem (if you care about it) it is being grayscale only.

Personally i have had a Hanlin V3 for three years. It has become totally irreplaceable for me. Use it for 90% of my readings, not only books but for studies (forget about mountains of photocopies or spending huge amounts of printing ink). The Hanlin is already aging so just ordered a Onyx Boox M92 with bigger touchscreen much better to read technical papers, it is also able of taking notations and even browsing internet. So "real books" are mostly history for me. The only con for ebooks now is price, particularly the bigger ones.

I have trouble finding enough ebooks in turkish, until that changes i am stucked with printed books. But i am curious about long reading experience with eInk.

Not difference at all with real paper. Well, only thing is e-ink "paper" being a bit grayer specially in older models (new pearl screens are much whiter). However it does not affect readability and you get used to it quickly. It is as reading a recycled paper.

It's all electrons in the end.

My dad got a Kindle for Christmas, and I checked it out. It was interesting, but I prefer dead trees.
