I'm not a republican!!!!! Realy I'm not. I'm a libertarian-conservitve-liberal-democatic-republican -indipendant with the slightest pinch of green party tossed in.

true, i was thinking of a libertarianist republican at the time.

still though, my statement stands.

just curious though, have you ever done acid or peyote?

You should watch "hooked illegal drugs and how they got that way" not just the one on marijuana. (i recomend all of them) they were produced by the History channel. Weed is illegal not because its harmfull. Many legal things are far more harmfull. Look up the "Laguadia report" it was a gov. funded study that was dismissed because it didn't tow the party line. (BTW Laguadia was the govener of NY and is who the airport is named after) Those "professionals" are not professionals. They are sent to your school to intimidate you. Believe what they say about heroin, extacy, meth and coke. But not what they say about pot LSD or mescaline (peyote).
If the professionals were sent there to intimidate me why did she never advocate against smoking weed, in fact she mentioned the beneficial parts as well. Also, just because something that is illegal is less harmful than something that is more harmful doesn't mean that the illegal thing is not harmful. Also you are avoiding the argument I made, which was that weed is scienifically classified as harmful to the human body.
If you want to prove yourself why don't you just provide a link to a scientific study that shows weed is more beneficial than it is harmful (with the previous mentioned exceptions).
Your basically arguing that jumping off a ten story building is ok because its less harmful than jumping off a 20 story building.

Actually, don't believe what they say about ecstasy either.

Take 5htp and you'll be fine.

It may not kill you, but the addictive power of marijuana will make you its slave.

 I bet you have never tried it.

Bah, I haven't paid a dime for tuition (because of my scholarship), and I plan on doing a study abroad program to England because of my 3.75 GPA. Marijuana does not harm your brain, nor is it addictive.

It may not kill you, but the addictive power of marijuana will make you its slave. You wouldn't be able to go a day without craving for it. Eventually one joint wouldn't be enough, and you start smoking more and more. Eventually 5 or 10 joints wouldn't be enough, and you start looking for stronger drugs to satisfy your craving. And since a lot of the drugs you'll be craving is illegal, it's also very expensive. You won't be able to afford it because no one will hire you, so you'll have to resort to robbery. I don't think I have to go further, you can see how things go downhill from there.
Oh Thor! Not this again. I have been smoking marihuana for 15 years quite irregularly. I have worked in coffeshops where they sell it. With that in mind I can tell you you quite wrong.

I go days without craving it. If I smoke, I usually smoke 1 or 2 (cigarette sized) joint. I never have looked for stronger stuff except for whiskey. I have a nice job and my employer never had any problems with me. Then I come online, and find some uninformed big mouth telling me the effects of marihuana. What a joke

Marihuana being an illegal drug will get you in contact with criminal types who would like nothing better than get you hooked on the stronger stuff. You know why? The stronger stuff is addictive, mary isn't. The gateway problem isn't a problem in the Netherlands. Why? Because it isn't illegal here. :)

In short. everything you posted there was wrong. :)

edit: It seems others adressed this post allready, sorry for being redundant :mischief:

Must be the lure of the open door. Gots to kick it in.

the only thing I ever smoked was Clematis  and that was a long time ago

so no, I don't smoke :)

~ I smoke cigarettes, about 5-10 a day, but I'm due to give up in about a year's time when I hit my 30th birthday. Specifically, I smoke roll-ups, from rolling tobacco (Golden Virginia). I have a dislike for the taste, smell and contents of ready made 'straights'. And it really pisses me off when: (a) Smokers of ready-mades, upon seeing me rolling up, say "would you like a proper cigarette?" I think and often say: "Yes, I would. That's why I'm smoking tobacco, not some filthy chemical and wood chip infested, fiber glass tipped piece of crap!" (b) Lazy, unhealthy, preachy wankers tell me I shouldn't smoke. I live a healthy lifestyle, taking regular hard exercise, eating a good balanced home cooked diet, apply the rule of moderation and so on. Life would be dull if I didn't allow myself some simple, small scale, self destructive pleasures amidst all that.

~ I smoke a cigar perhaps once a year at a party.

~ I also smoke ganja, less and less these days, but I find it a nice recreational alternative to getting drunk and unruly. Skunk, weed, bush, bud, hash, pollen, squidgy, you name it, I'll be lickin' it up. But it's really falling out of the picture more and more these days.

~ In the past I've also smoked: Opium, which was disappointingly dreary. Hookahs, which I found nice but not a patch on a ciggie or a joint. Pure MDMA powder in a joint, which was a waste to be frank. Please some other funky stuff back in the day.

~ Never touched crack and never will.

Seconded :) My brand is Van Nelle. I won't smoke anything else. I can stand the ready mades.

Smoking (tobacco) has at least 9 positive physical side effects. I read so in Modern Maturity magazine years and years ago. It just happens to have a couple of (bigger) negatives.

I was reading the novel "Only forward". There was a funny bit in it. The main character ranted about how, yes, he knew that smoking was bad for him. He was amazed that every non-smoker he ran into thought that he was raised in a vaccuum and had missed the fact so badly that they had to tell them.

The smoking companies actively denied the cancerous effects of smoking too.

I have smoked Marlboro for years. I stopped 2 days ago :)

I also use to smoke alot of Ganja, but I've quit that too.

Now I just drink alot of booze :D

It most certanly can improve mental health. Inhaling smoke period isn't good for you but the amount per million pot smokers take (not including tobacco) is negligable. Weed has more usefull side effects then negative. You are not 4x more likely to have a heart attack after you smoke. You realy need to get the whole story and what the government tells you. For real dude how can you take to heart a study that is factualy wrong on alot of points including but not limited to the second sentance.

How many pot smokers go for a jog after their joint? There is a correlation between heart attacks and exercise. I could just as easily say that eating is good for you, because people rarely have heart attacks when resting after a big meal.

Weed is less addictive than tobacco, because it has less nicotine. Nicotine is perhaps the most addictive substance known.
Both cannabis and tobacco are bad for you. Both help destroy your lungs and give you cancer. The lower amounts of cannabis that are smoked make pot-smokers think that it's a really safe drug, but it's only a bit better than cigarettes.

I don't mind pot smokers. They tend to do it in private, and are usually quite friendly people. It's the cigarette smokers who stand outside every building, or puff their fumes in my face on the street, who annoy me.

From time to time i may share a joint with my flatmates.. nothing more than that though.
