I remember a Japnese guy and a french guy talking about who had to work harder to recover after WW2 (a while ago)
and the french guy said do you really belive the Discovery channel that american crap?
just was thinkin about it thought I'd make a poll

History Channel is run by Discovery Channel? Everything I know is wrong.

The Discovery Channel has far too much reality TV, and I think most of its programs are crap, but they're crap in the way that they're produced poorly, not in that they're inaccurate. The Military Channel, so far, is the exception. While they seem to have too many "Let's follow such-and-such special force to boot camp" shows, their in-depth look at individual classes of ships and planes is awesome. Where else can you watch an hour-long special on some obscure Russian plane, like the Su-25 special that was on there last night?

Also, a lot of the big-marquee Discovery Channel specials are co-produced with Euroleftist darling BBC, so you can't just brush it off as "American crap".

Eh, its not about education, its about entertainment. I trust them to entertain me.

It's television. I trust it to be just that.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I meant.

Is mythbusters on Discovery Channel? Everything I know about decapitating ceiling fans, I learned from those guys.

Discovery has some good shows, but they also have many shows on "paranormal" events that for me have ruined their credibility.

I think that the (un)-Learning Channel.

I can't say much about it, as I don't have cable. But from what I seen, it mostly postive. Daily Planet is okay, Mythbuster is interesting and the rest is so-so.

I only watch MythBusters on the Discovery Channel and since I'm not willing to recreate any of the experiments they do on that show, I assume it's valid. Their science channel is pretty good but the Discovery Times channel is boring most of the time.

Oh and the History Channel is owned by A&E not Discovery. :)

I usually trust them but they can be wrong sometimes. Also, the science channel and even the Discovery channel have too many depressing shows about how the world will end tomorrow or how something will kill off the human race and such that I don't watch them often:sad:. However, some of the destruction of the universe shows are pretty good. Also, the military channel is often good when they bomb or shoot stuff however:).

What station is Modern Marvels on ? That's a cool show for me since I like watching the building of large bridges/tunnels/etc..

Blue Planet (I think that's what it was called) was also pretty good.

As for the question, I rarely trust anything unless I have multiple independent sources corroborating the "facts". And even then, I'm leery.

I was always a big fan of Junkyard Wars, but I don't remember if it was on Discovery or not. I like Discovery/History Channel stuff, so I watch it. I got nothing against the station.

I only watch them for their gadgety-explosion shows like Junkyard Wars and Mythbusters.

Used to be VERY good channel, except that recently the introduction of "reality" shows like Some Biker stuffs... Ewwww.

Junkyard war 1 is good. Mythbuster is cute.

i watch the history channel religiously. It has become my fall back channel where I watch it when there are nothing better on t.v. I only watch discovery channel's myth busters and some of their specials. However, I trust their accuracy in what they tell, what you can count on channels like the history channel is for them to tell a sides of the story. World War 2 is almost always told from the allies perspective. It's always the struggle against the evil empire, which makes me really mad because it is just such an inaccurate reflection of Germany. And they make it seem like our kill ratios in wars are good, I mean, yea sure we won, but killing all those germen/vietnese are not something we should celebrate.

anyone who belives there "race" or ethnicity is the "master race" and that all others are inferior deserves to be shot .... even today
I remember back in high school we had a fire drill and we all went out
and some kid drew a swastica on the fire truck ...later we figured out who did it ..... he got an ass whopoing from like 30 people and it took a while for the cops to mace them out . luckly it was mostly white dudes from the football team so there was no "race war" blazened on the local news

Their methodology is often goofy, but it's definitely entertaining. Nothing beats an intern watching something blow up!!
