So we've had a thread asking if you want marriage, the next logical thread is asking if you someday want children. I'm still undecided on this. In fact, I'm making this thread looking for advice in a way. I'm still not sure what to do with my life. But I'm leaning against having kids. I don't think the world will be a pleasant place to live after the oil starts running out. Would I want to doom my kids to that?

So post if you want or don't want kids, or if you have kids you can muse whether you have regrets about that (don't worry, they won't read your post :)), whether you'd do it all again, or if you want more. And I'll try to think of some decent poll options.

wait for the poll... it takes a few minutes to type all that in.

For their sake, I won't have kids, but I would want them. My plans for the future would mean their lives would terrible.

I'm not even fit to be a father, let alone get a girlfriend!

STOP PUTTING THE HORSE BEFORE THE CART!!!

Yeah I do want kids. It's pretty heartwarming to think about raising a kid. Well, once they reach age 4 or so. I hate babies.

Unfortunately I'm pretty bad with kids. I think I do fine, but the kids find me boring.

Most of the time, no. I like family life, but I like my peace and quiet, too. I'm not sure how I would raise a child in this modern age, anyway, where technology keeps changing so quickly and which introduces so many complications and dangers that I can't anticipate.

Now, if I could go back in time, and raise a child starting in 1985, that would be OK. I'd know what to expect.

I would love to have kids someday. :)

I don't know. It seems that having children would be a decadent and immoral thing to do given that I would also have the option of adopting a child who might never have a good life without my intervention.

I would, if I was a different person.

I often think this. I just don't think I would be a good father. But then I look at all these bad fathers out there and deadbeat dads, and I say to myself. I can do much better than that. I'm sure there are millions of kids out there that would love to have a dad like me.

But I still don't think I'm ready for them.

Super stoked for kids. Just gotta find the right woman. Not really worried about "making it in the world" first since that's A) inevitable and B) kids are a powerful motivator and C) better to pass on superior, young genetics than wait too long.

I like the "I do have kids, and I'm willing to sell them. " option

I don't have children and have no interest in having any unless I find woman to settle down with and have had a strong and steady relationship for at least like 4 years. At this rate maybe my 30s :p
