Does NOT joining the Armed forces make you a coward?

Who forced you? your family? or country? People should not be forced.
My country. And I agree people should not be forced.

I am sorry about your experience, but unless you have lots of oil someone will have to protect those borders and not get paid :(.
This is somewhat related:
"You can shell a piece of land, you can bomb it, you can drop napalm all over it, if needs be you can sterilise it completely with nuclear weapons but you don't own it until you stick an eighteen year old with a rifle on top of it."

Sounds like your brother is an idiot. If he were doing manual labour instead of the military his opinion would probably be "Any job that isn't physically intense is for cowards and weaklings".

I doubt being in the military has any bearing on his opinion, he just needs to rationalize the fact he probably doesn't have much of a future after discharge.

Cause from what i heard the Netherlands have more freedom. Besides not everybody wants to live in America. Some of us are just born here.

It is the Canadian Forces now; pencil necked bureaucrats in the sixties though it would save money to merge the Army, Navy and Air Force together. It didn't ... as always.
I know, but I though they split it back up again in the 80s when they realized that it was a stupid idea...

Just make sure that new freedom doesn't include insulting islam, you might end up with your throat cut and a note calling you an infidel stabbed into your chest.

Let freedom ring my friend.

You are not a coward if you refuse to join the army. You're an idiot most likely if you do. There are soooooooooooo many better ways to serve your country - and the world.

Your bro has had his brain painted a colour which resembles very fresh bullshi*. If he's not careful he will end up looking and acting like one of these, and what do these do all day long?

Can happen anywhere..... in some places more often than others....

Yeah, like the middle east for instance. ANd its colony formerly known as The Netherlands.

Praise the queen? hardly. Praise the Mullah? hubal akbar indeed.

How does one gague freedom?

Is it free speech? Michael Moore would like a word with you, and so would the late Mr.van Gogh. Might have trouble hearing him though, I hear his windpipe was severed. I'm sure the Netherlands "freedoms" meant so much to the widow van Gogh while she identified her husbands nearly decapitated corpse.

It's getting slightly off-topic, but anyway:

I wouldn't know. I have not read that UN report, nor have I been to America. I can't confirm nor refute that statement.
My gut feeling says it is true though.

Things do happen in any country, so why do you **** where you eat? Stay in America and change your home, don't pack it in and be too much of a crybaby to do something about what you disagree with.

Democrats should heed these words, or fade into irrelevence. (democrat btw)

Not everyone wants to stay in America. Other people move from america to other nations. Just cause i born in America does not mean i have to live here for the rest of my life. Besides i want to see the world.
