Double map size?

My dream is that one day we get an RFC that doesn´t have an irrealistically large Europe and Japan in relation to the rest of the world and can still somehow manage to keep the Euros and Japs as relevant as in RL. Of course Europe is already cramped as is in this version, so shrinking it is out of the question, the rest of the world would have to be enlarged. Also maybe Russia is already big enough XD.

Actually, I think Japan needs to be made a lot more powerful. Europe just has too many civs. (pull Poland, Prussia, plus Portugal and the projection could be pulverized without problems, probably)

That's undoable. Even in the biggest map of the civ history has a europe much smaller than the DoC's.

I don't see the purpose of adding useless tiles to the rest of the world just to have a proportionally sized Europe and Japan.

RFCCW has a bigger map of europe
So does RFCE, what's your point?

Oh.

I was playing as rome in rfccw and i liked the map scale, not as detailed as soi (that would crash the computer probably) but big enough for detailed gameplay.

But ill wait till leoreth is done with doc before i put it on the bigger map, so i dont have to merge.

Would a bigger map require new dll?

It would be cool to have a bigger map. But Russia wouldn't be very good and I fear she wouldn't expand much into Siberia. If you are to do this, you should make a few other cities spawn along with Kiev like Kursk and Pskov. There should be indy cities for other civs too.
Actually, a bigger map would be a great opportunity to add more independent cities to represent other countries. I would encourage you to try to add more civilizations, but the lag would be unbearable.
Regarding the Polynesian thread, a bigger map would make Polynesia more playable and productive with bigger islands.

My dream is to have an RFC at the scale of SoI encompassing the entire world from 3000 BC to the present day. One can dream, I guess.

Make the map actual size or go home

What is SoI?

The Sword of Islam, a really good RFC mod that focusses on the medieval Middle East. It's incredibly detailed.

The Sword of Islam, an RFC modmod created by embryodead that simulates the Middle East from 750 to 1700 AD. It's a really good modmod, with plenty of civs, historical random events, generally good historicity and balance, bug-free, and has an optimized engine compared to base RFC that everyone who makes a new RFC modmod nowadays uses.

One man's dreams are another man's nightmares.

You mean the size of the Earth?
The problem with that is that you can zoom in and zoom out, so it would invariably become the wrong size. Not to mention it would take an eternity to write and load and play.

I agree. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it didn't include Greece (see signature)
I hope for SoI:Ex to one day by just as balanced, complete, and bugfree as SoI is today

Is it your nightmare to play a modmod like that, or just to make a modmod like that?

Well, SoI:Ex is slightly closer to a global SoI #ShamelessSelfPromotion ;)

If I did do the much larger map, their would be a Kievan Civilization, and a Lithuanian Civilization, and an East Prussian civilization (Ostpreußen ist immer Deutsch und sollte mit allen Mitteln notwendig, wieder vereint werden) as well as many more civs
I'd keep all of the RFC and DOC Originals, though

The problem with adding too many civilizations is the game will lag a lot, especially if you make a global map. Dann wird das Computer sterben!
If you're up for the challenge, then I'd like to see more civs added but the map would be very, very large so adding too many civs would be a grim idea.
