No. Dwarf Fortress is a game began in 2002 and currently still under development in 2007. ASCII is the style of character graphics used in the games default setup. Anything on the keyboard used as graphics is ASCII.

ASCII for the win! The first 'game' i made was a platformer using ASCII graphics, programmed in PASCAL. It was truly wonderful. You'll have to take my word for that because it wont run under win-XP .

Terrish the current squad leader of the military and the only professional soldier is smacking around a recruit as they spar in the barracks. He is the one with the spear and point hat.

Dwarven Caravan arrives and the first thing they see is the battlefield where many goats have died. 4 at least were killed at the same time by CS. He is still hauling them all back.
