Lol, there's men in the pic. But that's a common perception bias. When you are used to and/or expect things/people to be all one way, seeing any deviation from that, regardless of how small, feels, like total deviation. One random example is when folks were referring to the Marvel movie Black Panther as having an "all black cast" when it most certainly did not. It just felt that way because the cast had far more black actors than folks we're accustomed to. We all tend to see what we want to see.

In any case, I get your larger point with regard to the message that the pic is sending and how it can come off as off-putting to some. I also get what I think is also your point, that its not about that one pic per-se, its about my point that the general, overall messaging of the Party, that the pic reflects, can convey to people who look at it and don't really see themselves, or going back to my above point, see something that deviates from what they expected, envisioned or are most comfortable with.
They kind of assume minorities will automatically swing their way

Beats me why.
Two reasons...
1) Because that has been the historical trend going back to the 60 at least, for black voters and back to at least to Obama's election for everyone else; and
2) Republicans are perceived as racist and/or biased, bigoted, prejudiced, etc., against minorities.

Black voters for years have had to just kind of swallow the notion that both Parties were biased and hostile towards them and just choose to go with the Party that was less so. To Quote Malcolm X:
"Conservatism" in America's politics means "Let's keep the n*****s in their place." And "liberalism" means "Let's keep the knee-grows in their place -- but tell them we'll treat them a little better; let's fool them more, with more promises." With these choices, I felt that the American black man only needed to choose which one to be eaten by, the "liberal" fox or the "conservative" wolf -- because both of them would eat him.
I think that on some level, that was where Hispanic and Latino voters were coming from this cycle... at least that was what was coming across when they were interviewing Hispanic Trump voters about the racist jokes about Puerto Rico and Hispanics at the Trump campaign rally... a kind of "Yeah but what can you do?" :dunno: a sort of shrugging resignation that they had to just go with what they thought was best overall and not worry so much about whether they were being courted or insulted.

Anecdotally, in my conversations with Asian voters, they seem to be way into that line of thought with regard to voting. They dont expect to be courted at all. They mostly expect to be ignored at best, maligned, insulted and demonized at worst... and yet they still have to vote for someone...so they go ahead and pick.

Black voters I think have finally gotten to a point where folks are expecting to at least be courted some. But going back to the perception bias I talked about above, when folks see any courting of black voters going on, that perception bias kicks in and they feel like all the Democrats do is court and pander to black voters to the exclusion and ignoring of everyone else.

I think that is something that the Democrats may identify as something they have to address in future election cycles. A flipside of that is insisting on treating white voters as this separate group that they have to court separately. I think that may be something else that the Democrats do some analysis on.
Country hip hop fusion, or whatever it's actually called, seems hot.
I believe its called "Bro-Country"... Also Beyonce released a Country album, which was a hit, in an attempt to win a Country Grammy, but she got snubbed... so there's that, I guess?
I wonder at shaboozy's bar song dominating the summer.
Great song... I don't know if that song counts as Bro-Country, since it is essentially a cover/remake of J-Kwon's 2004 song "Tipsy", but it sure was catchy.

I think I heard about that. Should probably look up the songs I don't know that I know with the whole has never seen the Grammys thing. But if it was a hit then it's a hit. I've still mostly lost track of Beyonce after she dropped Destiny's Child. She seems a cut above.

I never know what genre people are going to call stuff, all the little "rock" types made me give up on that in the 90s. But they play Shaboozy's stuff right next to Try That In A Small Town, so it must be close enough.

Biden looking real spry all of a sudden
I guess not having the crushing responsibility of leading a campaign being lifted from his shoulders does good to his health and morale.
I'm pretty sure he was campaigning purely out of sense of duty and not actual desire. He might feel pretty relieved.

America now has a second chance to fulfill their destiny.

Deport ten million undocumented migrants at gunpoint. Blanket national abortion ban. Dismantle the Board of Education. 60% tariffs on China, 20% tariffs on Europeans. Quit NATO, carve up Ukraine with Russia. Finish the wall on the Mexican border.

Presidency, senate, house, supreme court, everything is on your side.

We, the rest of the world, are looking from across the ocean.

You Americans better have the balls to really effing do it or nobody's respecting your manhood ever again.
wth is this take? Can anyone explain to me what this is?

It might possibly be, maybe, that half of the Americans are hateful, prejudiced, fascists, against democracy and/or love criminals.
Now (and hear me out, because it might sound crazy) it could possibly be that most Americans see the inflation in their wallets and bank accounts, see the crime rates go up and see the Democratic party with a mumbling stumbling Joe Biden for 3.5 years and then Kamala who says "yeah I'll fix that, y'know, that thing that we didn't fix for the last 4 years."
Nah, that can't be it.

Can you elaborate on this - what do you mean?
inflation is down, crime is down (was barely up in the first place, talk about the pussification of the American populace). Sinclair TV stations tell you the crime rate is skyrocketing, and the sheep believe it.

I think the reasons you site are accurate; I just believe the average voter in the US is so ignorant of basic reality that it worked anyways... their tiktoks were giving them the vibes of massive crime... thus massive crime is real.

Even deeper though are the real issues the US faces, wealth disparity, housing shortage, and a capital class that does not have to answer to its neighbors anymore, they jsut hide in their gated communities and avoid ever even walking by the plebs.

Any hedge fund in real estate should be forced out of the position immediately, I'm offering .06 on the dollar for the seizure of the assets and subsequent redistribution to the populace. This is the policy and messaging you are looking for... Or you can all be burned in a few years when we finally remember running multiple capitalist empires (all of them fashy btw) will inevitably lead to WW, this time with nukes!

Ah yes, Hick-Hop.
(Minor NSFW language.)

See, this disdain for the people is what makes most people throw up in their mouth.
Its deserved. Half the US thinks its living in a christian nation.... and their founding fathers were christians. None of that is true at all and literally is a google search away to disprove this type of nonsense.
His win, will probably help us get rid of our moron in Ottawa. (with luck, the pinhead will just step down)

Any bets about that XL pipeline?

Oh, I can just see a Vance vs AOC debate... snicker.

My prediction now is, it'll be 12 years before the Dems have a realistic shot at regaining the WH.
(short of war, or someone truly charismatic or a mutant) :p
You don't want that pipeline, you really really don't
Sounds like cope to me. If republicans were to complain about hanky panky with the votes libs would be crying foul.

Only because the popular vote went Republican this time Dems feel they have to now use this as their final cope to desperately avoid trying to do something different or prevent themselves from devolving into pure hysteria.
wtaf is going with some of these people? Yes, republicans have made an art form about *****ing about "hanky panky" whatever the fudge you mean here... Suffice to say their complaints are all lies of the dumbest fudging order, their own secerataries of states disproviing their nonsense repeatedly. Whereas the systemic removal of people from voter roles with less than six months to go is obvious voter manipulation... on top of the fact that this slave abiding constitution is bent so heavily towards oligarchy that I do not understand why anyone ever calls this a democracy... its government by highest bidder...

The American people have chosen. As non-Americans, let's respect their culture.

The way I see it.

One. Reduce immigration. Deport undocumented migrants.

Two. Reduce support for foreign wars. Spend the money elsewhere.

Three. Go back to more conservative, Protestant, Judeo-Christian social norms and values.

Four. Increase traditional, non-renewable energy. Reduce renewable energy. Begin selling energy resources.

Five. Raise tariffs on imports.

Six. Reduce corporate tax to compete for foreign direct investment.

Personally, I was surprised they didn't give incentives to re-industrialise Middle America. The USA has abundant land and resources, and still decent infrastructure and institutions. New technology is making cheap labour costs in East Asia almost irrelevant.
this is another clueless take on America and reality for that matter.

sure, w/e, deport 10 million manual labors and watch the crops rot in the fields, housing double in price overnight, not to mention the moral nightmare on TV as this happens, great way to start on three with the judeo-christian bullfeathers... people who think these two things are not diametrically opposed befuddle me with their ignorance, of christian values (this is often the case) or what a mass deportation would look like (always the case).

two? sure fine. not a fan of empire anyways... kind of weird kicking in your neighbors' doors forcing them to sell you their toaster or you will blow up their home... that behavior is batshit crazy.

3? yea you can gtfo with that ****. I'm a very conservative person in my private life and I want nothing to do with w/e you mean here. willing to fight a war over this one...

4? So is this one of those accelerationists christian fundamentalist takes? I'm not sure why you seem so intent on destroying the one planet you have

5? Sure, but that 20-60% will directly inflate prices across the economy.

6? Idc about corporates taxes, sure get rid of them and raise the lost revenue on anyone making over 200k... that going to be a helluva hike, but the tax system would be better for it and much more progressive actually.

Dems are really bad at messaging. Its why their most progressive policies pass every cycle but their politicians fail.

It seems to me they already did it. Walz got sent into rural areas and it's pretty easy, although speculative, to see what the goal was there and the logic behind it.

Skeptical that that kind of politics will prove to be successful. There's a... whole other party which has a long head start on that matter and has the advantage of the possibility of courting white racists.

It's not winning politics for Dems. They're better off going with the leading identity being "poor". Particularly if the trend of Hispanic voters and male voters to Republicans continues.

They could have chosen someone more inspiring than Waltz in the first place. Wasn't there an ex-astronaut there?
Kelly.

Walz may have interviewed well. He was also recommended by Sanders, which may have been influential. Harris was never gonna change Gaza policy. Less support for it than may be thought if CFC is the source of info, but that risked alienating the progressives.

Watching a lot of the responses to the election results is like watching cats and the red dots.
(hilarious)

<insert smartass comment about 'you're gonna need a bigger mop'> :p

I would suggest that the lefties try just talking to others who don't believe what they do.
Talk with I should say, there's been enough 'talking to'.

I'm outta this thread so final comment:

"I disagree vehemently with everything you said, but will defend to the death, your right to say it."
lol, I think the nazis around the planet should find their humanity before all of humanity is vaporized by the self-same nazis.

this post is just pure projection... try being a leftist and trying to convince liberals and progressives that a more dramatic left wing economic policy will win easy with the right messenger. Our policies pass almost every time, but our leaders are torn down or stonewalled every single time...

They are calling 2024 the Graveyard of Incumbents.

This is my primary concern. The entire planet seems bent on WWIII these days... I'm finding it harder to see a path forward without extremely violent conflict around the world...

It's not about facts but feels and vibes.

Trump basically fails every fact check you give him. But it doesnt matter. Some of his voters know he's a bull in the China shop. They don't like the China shop.

They know he lies but he at least gives them the courtesy of lying to them vs not addressing their concerns at all eg Hilary and coal and telling them to learn to code.

I think you are correct here.

Yup everyone dumps on Biden. He's the only one who defeated Trump though.
