@Azale: You call that floating orrery a steampunk death star? This is a steampunk death star:

Actually, judging by the background, that's totally a steampunk Planetary Ion Cannon. Get your nerd references right. :p

North King - since I can't recall the context off hand, the picture looks much more hilarious than it probably actually is (they're really just giving him the swords, right? He didn't really snatch them out in some sort of a bullet time sequence? ).

He's actually giving them the swords; they're vowing to go get their wives back or something.

I'm not gonna lie, its kinda just looks like he's giving up his swords and surrendering...

This is where context might be important. In any case, the oathgiver isn't really as important as the three oathtakers.

Yeah, the AT-ATs give it away. That's clearly the battle of Hoth, but in Steam-Punk form.

Doesn't have to be. No grass on Hoth, no liquid water, no trains, and the Gallofree transport is a friggin' airship. Besides, the "ion cannon" is waayyyy too big, but too small for a Death Star. So it could be Hoth, but not necessarily.

Don't they have their own swords (and yes, I still am trying to remember the context and resisting the temptation to just Google it)? Freeloaders. :p

That's a popular painting. Is it Louis David?

EDIT: Yes, yes it is. Grats to me for remembering. :p
Yes, it is my favorite painter doing my favorite neoclassical thing and drawing A FEW DUDES SWEARING AN EPONYMOUS OATH. Not taking swords.

:p

I thought: "Stay back, or I'll use all three of these swords to kick your asses!"

Unlike some people I could mention, we didn't have any wussy demographically crippling diseases to help us here. Oh, no. We did things the hard way and earned our stay by making the natives drink themselves to extinction after we conquered them. :p

Spoiler probably my favourite bit from when I read Karamzin when I was ten or so :

Clearly a combination- there are AT-ATs, X-Wings, an oversized Ion Cannon, but if this was the battle of Hoth, we would have AT-STs and Snowspeeders, both of which are clearly missing. :p

Justiciars from LINESII and Guild Wars also.

Ah, so that's how you picture them. +4 Zamdar Coolness Points

Nah, the person's clothes are ripped and flowing in the wind and they are in a defiant pose.

They can totally win

Is that a sword attached to the rocket like a bayonet?
