FfH trivia game thread

Don't actually have one because of the way I found it... best I can do is this.

The Red Dragon guarding the Dragon's Hoard is, like many other things in FfH, named after a figure in mythology. Who or what does the name "Acheron" refer to originally?

The Amurites are derived from Patria, but the same could be said for every other human civ (although the Lanun were never really more than nominal vassals when they were part of the empire, and the Elohim were already ancient when they joined Patria). The Amurites were formed from scattered tribes of refugees in the Age of Ice, and cannot trace their ancestry back through a Patrian faction any more than the Doviello can. However, the Patrian Emperor Kylorin found his reincarnated wife Eve (Epona in that like) among them, and so joined them and became their leader. They modeled themselves after his old empire, and recently have restarted some Patrian traditions (like the trials in the Caves of the Ancestors) that Kylorin had come to regret and would probably not like them using.

(In an older version of the lore, the Patria was a name later applied to an ancient people who called themselves the Amurites. Of course, they may have called their land Patria too, as that just means "The fatherland" in Latin and probably Patrian. Kylorin reused the name of his Age of Magic kingdom when he formed a new one in the Age of Ice. I still prefer to think of it this way, but Kael decided to change it so as not to confuse people.)

The Patrian empire was quite large, including all parts of Erebus where humans lived. This probably includes all the human lands of the Age of Rebirth too. I assume the answer you are looking for is The Remnants of Patria unique feature, but that could indicate the ruins of any patrian city in any land.

My question:

What is the meaning of Life?

(As in, what does the precept of Life represent. For example, the meaning of Fire is Passion and the meaning of Force is Balance.)

I think he meant what they were derived from in reality. What real nation they are based off of.

.....Of course, the Mercurians themselves also have knowledge of how to build their Gates, and they spread it rapidly to all their allies once they arrived. Once Basium stepped through that gate there was no going back, as he was created to embody the sphere of Persistence (as I believe is the meaning of Life, in the context of the 21 precepts in FfH).

I'm thinking persistance ;) (You only just said that today too)

Oh, you sure?

Did he suspect that the Amurites are derived from the Amorites (who lived in Cannan, Syria, and possibly Arabia before invading Mesopotamia, and are sometimes called the Amurru) maybe?

If so, my "What is the meaning of Life?" question still stands.

Edit: I see cyther already answered mine, correctly.

Well, Kael has never specifically stated the meaning, but Persistence/Perseverance (especially when it appears one is defeated) seems like the obvious choice to me. It is the opposite of Death, which in FfH is giving up and withdrawing to a dreamworld rather than fighting on. When Nemed was still a god he most strongly desired for each human to live on forever. Basium would not desist from fighting demons once he had started. Sucellus was not content to remain dead after being defeated, which is what led to him taking on this new precept. Life never gives up, never surrenders. Life is an unending struggle (well, it eventually ends, but it isn't life anymore then).

(I thought that was yesterday?)

doesn't it have to do with birth or something?

doesn't it have to do with birth or something?

Birth, no. That would be Amathoan's bailiwick. The birth of something new is the paragon of Creation/Fertility, not Nemed's/Sucellus's precept of Life.

Life could however be called the sphere of Rebirth. It is not the creation of something new, but the rejuvenation of something that was thought to have perished. This is shown by its symbol being the Phoenix, and by the Mercurian mechanic of getting Angels from fallen units. I consider rebirth to be but an extreme case of persistence though, as it is something old continuing to fight onwards despite the circumstances.

I think I know this, but I'm in a school computer lab now and cannot check. Also, I wouldn't be able to answer anyway since I asked the last one.
