Fireflies

Every once in a while, I see a firefly about. Slightly more so when I visit my folks.

My favorite insect by a long margin. I've had many summer twilight well spent watching them congregate densely above a field of growing soybeans.

I only see them in the beginning of the summer.

actually saw some tonite, bout 103 and maybe 90s early evening when they lite up

Don't see any here but in NC the evening air was always thick with them when I was a kid. I really don't pay any attention to them as an adult.

I remember that their guts made for some great glowing warrior face paint. Didn't last long though.

Nope.... they aren't in Idaho. :\ Don't think I'm missing out on anything that great though
