I still don't consider that misleading. It is facts.
They are going to pick and choose the facts that support their cause... this is common knowledge. Still valid.
Concerning unemployment, which graph below looks better than the other? Or do they look the same to you?:
Both start and end in the same place. Same facts, so to speak. Yet each one tells a completely different story. Graph A shows ever increasing unemployment, with no end in sight. It would be logical to assume that unemployment would just keep rising in this scenario. Graph B shows a higher peak, but more importantly a reversal in the trend. Things are getting better, not worse and we have passed the worst of it.
Reality is that Graph B is what has happened with unemployment. This Ad would lead you to believe that Graph A is what happened. Completely and totally misleading, even though they share the same two facts (start and end).
If they pick and choose the facts that support Obama doing well (as the Obama campaign will do, ignoring the other facts that don't), well... they'd be campaigning for Obama.
They shouldnt be campaigning for
anyone! If it was Fox Political Opinion Network, then sure, have right at it. But it is not. It is Fox
News Network. News organizations have no place in campaigning for any party, regardless of inherent bias of their programming.
2. I see why you don't like the job number but there are a few charts here on this site that show that Obama has had a slower recovery. Why isn't important it is the fact that he will be judged on. That is also one small part of the whole video.
Sure it is one small part. It just happens to be the one that stuck out at me after watching it once. There are tons of other misleading facts in this ad. I was just using this as an example.
Let me ask you guys another question: Do you think that the President of the United States has any influence over the short term (<3 years) price of oil?
If yes, in what ways has Obama acted that has resulted in an increase in oil prices?
If no, wouldnt it be misleading to judge the President on this factor in an attack ad?
