I'd have thought eagles would be able to avoid massive dull blades that spin quite slowly. Do they have trouble with windmills? Or is that the joke? That they'd have no trouble avoiding them?
No, it's an actual thing. As in it happens occassionally and is hugely inflated by "climate sceptics" and other people of that ilk.
Obvious factors to appreciate would be, well, everything else humans build, starting with electricity lines, and, well, the outdoors being really damn big in general.

Actually, that would be incorrect. Those screws are actually still removable. However, we need to expend a lot more effort it would have otherwise.
