Also "Marx was a racist" seems to be a very modern smear against him. The most famous is that he called Lassalle a 'Jewish N-' either it was 'Negro' in their parlance or the racist '-R' parlance.
He wrote 'On the Jewish Question' because he was a Ethnic Jew living at the time and struggling with that in the question of Secularism and religiosity and emancipation. Marx acknowledged Slavery as an economic mechanism, but one that eventually does run its course, and this is the guy who eventually told Abraham Lincoln 'good job' for emancipation twenty years after his texts on Slavery. Also he coined this: "as the American War of Independence initiated a new era of ascendancy for the middle class, so the American Antislavery War will do for the working classes." which is a helluva good title for the ACW.
It's a bit of a reach compared to folk like literal Confederate Generals and Raiders.
