Germany - a new theocracy?

look, the republicans have stances on social politics that in germany only the far right splinter parties come close to.
most of the german far right splinter parties have ties to neo nazis to varying degrees.

both those statements are facts, if you are inflamed by this, i'm sorry, but you should really not complain about someone telling you the truth.
Well, I guess I am not up on current nazi ideology... care to explain the points where the US Repub Party platform is in agreement with them? Also, please compare to US Dem Party, if you can...
Or is this just a hugely overreaching statement?

Repubs and Dems alike denounce anything like nazism, we have no history of nazism being a part of our politics or government, etc...
So, please, tend to your own crops.

look, this is about stances on homosexuality, homosexual marriage, drug laws, prostitution and last but not least immigration laws.

on all those issues the cdu (with the notable exception of immigration laws) is to the left of even the democrat party.

what it obviously is not about is stances on the master race and exterminating jews.

What is the official Repub platform on homosexuality? I can't find anything on it, maybe you have another source?
Immigration laws are now nazi related? Every country in the world, that I know of, has immigration laws...
Drug laws... most parties in the USA, and the world, with the exception of marijuana, are anti-drug in their official platform.
Prostitution... while I agree that in the USA, our prostitution laws are whacked, when did that issue become a nazi issue?

I guess my asking for a side by side comparison will never get done... but I think that speaks volumes.

Are their people in the Repub party that hold some views similar to that of nazis? Sure. In most parties, if you look long enough, you will find some. They tend to keep it private because they know their ideas are frowned upon...

In the end, the comparison was over the top, at a minimum, when talking about parties though.

I'm pretty sure Germany will be fine

I'm willing to bet this priest would be considered a leftist nut in good 'ol Amurrrica.

you dont want to get it, do you?

IN GERMANY, THE CDU HAS A STANCE TO THE LEFT OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY REGARDING SOCIAL POLITICS.
IN GERMANY THE ONLY PARTIES THAT TAKE SIMILAR STANCES ON THOSE ISSUES TO THAT OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE THE FAR RIGHT PARTIES.

THOSE STANCES ARE NOT INHERENTLY NAZI RELATED. HOWEVER, IN GERMANY ONLY THE FAR RIGHT PARTIES TAKE THEM.

that's all. it's a fact. i do not understand what you are arguing here.

The comparison of nazi beliefs to Repub party beliefs.

Look, you picked out issues that aren't even Repub party beliefs to make your point.

Are they beliefs of some repubs? Sure... but you were excusing the comparison of Repubs to nazi like elements in Far Right German politics.
That's over the top... not sure why you are having a hard time understanding my point, but I suppose it isn't my problem.

oh yes, its only the stance of 90% of Republicans, they didnt put it on their website though so we have to assume they are pro-gay marriage unlike the nazis.

I like how an Austrian defends Germany. :)

nobody made such a comparison. you're fighting fairies.

I didn't like this statement, it's really not that important...
If you're looking for anything resembling the republican party in germany, then you have to pick the FDP (the "pro business" party) and mix it with the german nazi partys like the "Republikaner" aka republicans.

Over 1/2 of CA was against gay marriage... is California mainly nazi-ish?
They are overwhelmingly a liberal state.

I was about to comment, but I notice posters realize the OP is such a non-issue they have started arguing other issues. :p

Is the saying "tilting at windmills" dead or something? :)

hm. i always saw the windmills as indestructible monuments of technological progress that can not be brought down anyway. at least not with a lance.

what he is arguing against here is a perceived argument nobody ever made. (republicans are nazis.) hence, an imaginary thing.

I like how an Austrian defends Germany.

HE MADE ME DO IT!

mix it. not take everything out of their nazi party programme and bam you got the republicans.
