In the USA there is a political alliance between big business (opposite of communists economically), hard line fiscal conservatives (opposite of communists socially), and militant Christians...so pointing out that early Christians, meaning the ones who actually had to deal with being directly led by JC, were absolutely communists produces an uncomfortable irony for all three parts of that alliance.
It's especially entertaining when you have someone who is so immersed in that alliance that they have taken on all three components for themselves, so they have turned such a blind eye to the apparent conflict that they have internalized it.
