At last, something the British Isles is a lead country, in the west at least! And with only 7 I think they were missing some. Has Ireland really got more than the UK?

Good guess, based on the map , but no, it isn't.

I doubt it. Unless that is also the case for Troezen, Corfu, some town in the border between Holland and Belgium and whatever is in the southern part of South Sahara.

That is very likely a colouring artifact (as Kyriakos implies), the whole US should be grey.

It looks like the darkness is the scale? UK, Iceland, Yemen and Syria all in the darkest category, it has to be something interesting but I cannot even think of a guess.

Yes, the darkness is the scale. With the US having 0, everything else higher.
You will get further if you ignore Yemen and Syria.

And Denmark and Greenland are opposite ends of the scale?

That is probably a colouring error (white=not included), pretty sure the same things apply in Greenland as in Denmark.

I think any map that is supprising is a good map. I had not realised we are so execptional in the amount of time off we get.

And Iran and Cambodia get 27 bank holidays? I would say I want to move there, but not really.

Actually, maybe my idea for a map has to be followed by a quick reveal
It is just a presentation of the four-color theorem. You can use as little as 4 colors (but not less) to color a surface regardless of how many distinct surfaces (countries in this case) it has.
