What do Nepal and Papua New Guinea lead the world in?
Papua New Guinea is often ranked as the most culturally diverse country. But the positions of India and North Korea make it pretty clear that that's not it. PNG is also the most rural country, but if that were it then Afghanistan would be as urban as Singapore.

Edit: Both countries are pretty mountainous so it might have to do with the % of the population that lives in mountain regions.

Could be to do with forests.

edit: Percentage of land not under human occupation/control?

Nobody is thinking along the right lines yet.

Heretic Cata:
Number of kukris per capita.

Thanks. I learned something.

Edit 2: Reposting the map.
Spoiler :

Note that the scandinavian countries have three different colors.. countries that usually are very alike.

That's a no to everything so far. Each color represents a quantity.

Red = 6
Amber = 5
Yellow 4
Green = 3
Blue = 2
Grey = 1
Purple = 0

I recall that Bhutan has the highest happiness index in the world and until recently had next to no TVs or Coca-Cola in the country.

I'm not sure where you're getting that from. To clarify

Red = 6 of a thing
Amber = 5 of a thing
Yellow 4 of a thing
Green = 3 of a thing
Blue = 2 of a thing
Grey = 1 of a thing
Purple = 0 of a thing

These are the absolute values. The US has more than 6 nuclear plants, so that's not it. Ireland has more than 0 TVs, so that's not it.

So, Norway, Canada, Spain and Saudi Arabia amongst others all have none of this particular quality. Interesting.
