How is your EU3 Game going?

Actually, since I'm a little addicted to Noble Republic now, I might try Ragusa. Not from this save though - especially since they share a border with GH

Noble Republics don't get enough magistrates to justify the change from Feudal Monarchy's morale bonus, and Empires get more magistrates than them.

That said, if you get a horrible streak of monarchs, Noble Republic might be the way to go.

Whilst starting in 1399!

I added a few years to that start date on my obligatory Roman alt-histobation game. :mischief:

It's one of those few times where you are unlikely to outperform your historical counterparts by exploiting the AI or simplifications in the game, etc.

It's the better rulers/RM combo I like it for.

Anyway, small update. And also a candidate for posting in Strange Screenshots over at PI.

That Epirus also happens to be an Islamic sultanate.

And they were the ones to bring down Byzantium as well. The Byzzies were actually in control of three or four provinces until GH came along... :p

I just find it amusing that Ragusa and Epirus are the walls against the Horde threat. :D

EDIT: Because TO and Hungary are both paying tribute, and I think Muscowy is as well. And Novgorod. (Well, the Russian front has been quiet for decades, anyway.)

Thoughts on that pic:
1) oh god Ragusa ABORT ABORT
2) Y U NO ATTACK POPE?
3) Oh. Infamy.
4) SCREW INFAMY, TO WAR!!! (copyright Ulm)
5) Oh god Epir ABORT ABORT
6) Is that Byz in Anatolia?
7) Greece in Greece?
(at this point, braindeath)

They're my vassal :p
3) Oh. Infamy.
Yeah, my conquering is pretty much done for the next fifty years :p
4) SCREW INFAMY, TO WAR!!! (copyright Ulm)
But then I won't get to annex my vassals Ferrara (:p), Mantua, Genoa and the Papal State! :D
5) Oh god Epir ABORT ABORT
:yup:
6) Is that Byz in Anatolia?
Byz are long gone. That's Milan. (I wish it was Naxos, that'd be the icing on the cake.)
7) Greece in Greece?
(at this point, braindeath)
Better. Morocco. And apparently, they can into TO as well.
Oh, and they still hold all their original lands.

What are they again? I think I remember, it's just a matter of renaming a few files in the terrain folder inside the map folder. I don't know which files though.

A search on paradox forum would find out which I am sure.

I don't have the game yet (Christmas is almost here), but I'll ask now.

What's a good European nation to start as?

Castille is the classic first game.

Castille's good. France is also very good, as is England. Sweden or Denmark can be pretty good. My first real game was as Brandenburg, and that one was decently easy as long as you remember that taking too much unlawful Imperial territory is dangerous. Also Austria is a good one.

IIRC I played Barabant as first nation, then burgundy and ever since then I've played mostly England. Dunno why I like england.

Definitely play as Castille your first game.
