Release Savoy, Siena, Sicily and Fez as your vassals. That should reduce your infamy enough to get back to making yourself Holy Roman Emperor.

I played a bit more and got discommunicated then France DoWed me I could of taken them on if it was just number of troops but i can seem to get any generals where as almost all there armies had them. In the end I rage quit without saving
I will try on that save again but i may retry with Castille again if I can't get anywhere with this.

How you got excommunicated? increase relations with the papal states...if you have high relations then yo won't get that annoyance.
