How is your EU3 Game going?

I have a MEIOU question. I installed it, it works fine, but i chose lucky nations being historical, and suddently the ottomans had a 50K army a few years after the start of the game...
I was playing as (surprise) the Roman Empire, and barely had 10K in my first ever MEIOU game.

Woudl turning off lucky nations fix this issue, or is it unrelated (some sort of local decision?)

Also there was a bad bug. Ottomans allied with Aydin and Aydin was the leader of the alliance...

Its quite easy, your starting fleet is enough to hold the Ottos one, just keep producing galleys non-stop until you have like 20 galleys, your army can in the meanwhile siege Gallipoli, that will defect to you after some time, after that you can just ignore the Ottos till they offer a white peace, while you wait i suggest eating some of Serbia (Hungary usually eats them) and then continue eating who you can, try to not fight Genoa because their fleet is insane.
their army is really big because of a modifier that makes them monsters until their ruler dies, this is made so that they won't be so much weak at game start, in my Otto game i fielded a army of around 35k at the start and could increase to a much bigger size if i wanted, but when my ruler died and i lost the modifier i had problems with income until i expanded against other turks and the euros.

Thanks for the advice :) Yes i thought that the galleys should do the trick, it is just that it was my first game and i tried to play it as a regular DW campaign, building up troops and waiting for a pinched battle with a force at worst 3/2 my own.

I will go back and try again with your own strategy.

Last tiem I played as the Byzantines I DoW on day 1 the turkish minors. After them and Trebizond were annexed I sat there and done nothing for the next 10 years until I hit government level 4. Then I took the press gangs NI for half price ships, minted like crazy and them churned out around 24ish carracks and haf that number in galleys. Increased the size of the army up to 15 divs and DoW the ottomans and parked the fleet in te Bosphorous. I went east though into asia and wiped out the turks there while their army was stuck in Europe. For the peace deal I took all of the anatolian coast and the Turkish Greek provinces started to revolt against the turks and I got alot of them for free. Once thats done take all the provinces you have cores on and reestablish the theme system and it is more or less easy sailing from there.

It seems that the ottomans declaring war on the roman empire is the norm, but in my second game they got declared on by venice on day 1, so i did not have to face them that soon.

You're better fighting them by day 1, then blocking their fleets with a endless source of ships (Constantinople) and allowing Otto war exhaustion to skyrocket by sieging Gallipoli, you can get that province for free anyway after some time.

The end of my Italian game. Note the patchwork of colonies and independent revolters in NA.

The only mod is my personal collection of tweaks, one of which is extending the end-date by 16 years exactly. :)

That's the least of your worries with the map? I spent far too long ensuring pretty borders in-game and then preparing the list of remaining nations for posting here. :)

Habsburg duchies are those owned by members of the extended royal family, whilst Imperial nations are vassals of Greater Austria. The independent nations are outnumbered by the vassals. :D

I found that the world suppliers of the beverage known as TEA, actually having a TEA PARTY, was pretty humerus.

Not much to say about being the Ming, but it is pretty easy to make 1st Ranking in Prestige, on Easy setting, but not have much fun doing it. I'm feeling that a EU3 gamer needs to get the Eunuch party in power to really have fun playing proto-China.

I myself don't like Ming, well, they're cool and strong but i don't want to be limited by factions, i would rather play Manchu and take over China :D
or Japan, convert to catholicism and invade China :D

but it's interesting, oh, in my Bradenburg game in MEIOU i remember getting a mission to vassalize Lorraine i think, it said something like that in the last lines of the mission desc : "we can not allow bastards (something like that) like the king of France to get control over their land."
the only problem is, i was at PU with France and had already inherited them long ago :) so my own king was also king of France, calling yourself bad things is quite insane...

Just played some if the weirdest Europa Universalis I've ever played, as the Papal State.

Date is about 1450, and I centralize, and get a local pretender. 11 regiments in Roma. Which surrenders after three days, before I even had time to select my nine regiments in Romagna. They soon moved to Ancona, where I engaged them a couple of times without success. Siena tried to besiege Rome for me, but the AI seemed to be in a loop, and kept moving the army back into Siena.

Not long after Ancona surrendered, I collapsed, and had my 7/8/5 pope replaced with a 3/5/3 one (the Papal Conclave even "elected" him).

And I also got the eleven regiments. That put me at twenty regiments; with a forcelimit of 6. Ferrara had recently dishonored their alliance with Sicily (Who owned all of Naples), and Bavaria and Venice had destroyed almost all of the Milanese army. So I annexed the two states I had had my eyes on the whole game just like that.

And now my new mission is to have more ships than Siena, and they were even nice enough to dishonour my Call to Arms against Ferrara.

Lemme know what cultural commonalities exist between the Swiss and Westphalians.
yeah, it would have made more sense to lump us in together with B-W, Schwaben and Alsace. But yeah, the reasoning I heard for it was indeed to contain Switzerland to keep it more to its historic size. The same reasoning was used in Vicky by giving Switzerland the made-up culture "Helvetian" (or something like that), rather than South German

anyway, I did after quite some time off reinstall EU3 again last night, and got me the latest 2 addons to complete the set. Now I'm test-driving it as Venice.

One of my first actions was annexing byzantium in a defensive war

edit: ooops, did I just repost instead of edit?

Removed it. :) -- Chieftess
