@taillesskangaru: Your avatar makes a lot more sense now :D

I'm the two pillows category. The lower one is of the more stiff category, so my head isn't on the same level as the rest of my body, and a more plushy one on top of it for the comfort. I also have a third one that's more like a couch backrest which I use while reading in bed.

Used to have 2 pillows, now just one. But it's really big and soft.

Four: one for my head, one to hold onto (it's relaxing), and two to go under my legs to elevate my lower back.

This has to be the best thread for completely unexpected and crazy weirdness since that "blocky S drawing" thread of Fifty's, I think.

1 pillow (I can understand no pillows too at least) - and looking at the votes, gotta imagine that this is a heavy USA #1 vs. other parts of the world split.

Three is never a crowd when it comes to pillows. I have like 10 in my bed, much to Abaddon's hatred.

Two pillows. I like my head propped up somewhat rather than just one, which feels a rectangular bump on the mattress. :p

what

there is almost zero correlation between pillow preference and nationality if you look at the people who actually voted

I might not know everyone's nationality, but I count only 4 Americans who voted anything more than 1 pillow and at least 10 who voted for just 1 - so the ratio for the US is way different from the overall poll results. Plus I know I recognize enough names as Australian and they're all voting for multiple pillows.

3. Two to sleep on and one cold one as alternate

Three in total, two that get used.

I'm definitely in Category 3. I count six pillows on my small single bed. My preference for more pillows is however offset by my unwillingness (combination poverty, laziness) to go out and buy more pillows, and the limited space on my bed which my pillows share with eight blankets.

I usually just have the one pillow under my head when sleeping; sometimes two. The rest are all over the bed; beside me, or on top of me (I hug pillows; sad isn't.)

8 BLANKETS?! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Don't you get hot man?

My gf has 8 blankets too and I had the same reaction when she told me

Just one pillow. But I think two makes more sense. Sinuses drain better if the head is elevated. I'm just too lazy to go through trying to keep 2 pillows straight.

My peculiarity is turning the pillow over to get the cold side, truth being stranger than fiction. I also like the bed being cold when I get in.

We are exploring the pillow usage by region.

I'm slightly weird when it comes to this question, technically I have one pillow but if whack you round the face with the pillow it will resemble something like this.

I like my pillows to be firm and thick, so my method is to mix cheap dead pillows with other cheap dead pillows in the same pillow case. And there you have a firm, cheap long lasting pillow that can also be used as a murder weapon (ie smothering or by smiting them with it).

I sleep on my stomach, head turned to the left, cradled on my pillow and arms. I've got this yard-long big pillow I use to prop my chest and head on, with a...

Well, technically it's a stuffed animal. But it is a white bear with a big butt, and it makes a good pillow. And it has a little bow-tie, so it is classy.

I also have a regular pillow that goes under an arm or with the bear.
