The Code of Hammurabi: Session five.
Alright, the plan of this session is to claim this continent our own and hopefully pull off a domination victory with that. If not, we'll have to go overseas and pay our good friend Genghis a visit.
1958 AD: The plan.
I'm looking at the world map for a bit and this seems like a good way to grab those cities. Remember green cross = our stacks, red cross = the target, blue lines the path we take.
- We'll join our second and third stack in Anhaica and move south.
- Our original sod grabs the eastern cities and goes south as well.
- I'm not sure what's supposed to be at the question mark, it shows Incan culture so HC might still have a city there.
This way the two sods should meet and we can join them to make a big ass sod again .. to possibly load it in transports and head to Genghis.
1959 AD
Our second/third sod reached Anhaica, we revolt, attack and capture it. The main thing we want in these new cities is a jail to counter the big WW. If they have a jail, we'll make barracks and units.
Our main sod arrived at Machu Picchu, we revolt, attack and capture.
To somewhat give you a better visual, we''ll combine the western stacks in Waiya and attack from there.
What I also do this turn is switch the research up to 80%, we run a big deficit but we have enough gold to reach lasers that way. We cut the time for lasers from 5 to 3 turns.
1960 AD
We get the "improved motor oil" event, we pay 112 gold for free support of 15 units. Not that it matters much at this stage.
1961 AD
HC asks for open borders, I refuse as I don't see how it would help us.
1962 AD
Finished the research on Laser, now we can build/upgrade mobile artillery.
Our main sod reached Tiwanaku, we didn't have to revolt because Genghis already took the defense down with his naval units. So we capture it. We find some obsolete wonders and the Christian shrine inside.
1963 AD: No nukes!
I put up the resolution to ban nukes, which passed this turn. Genghis came asking us for uranium and I don't trust that guy. Genghis and an arsenal of nukes? No, no, no ..
1964 AD
Our secondary sod reached Harappan, revolt, attack and ... Bull gets a GG. Bad place to spawn I tell ya. We capture the city.
I'm also running 0% science again so we can upgrade our regular artillery upon capturing a city.
1966 AD
Secondary sod reaches Kituhwa, revolt, attack and capture. I have to add the defense in Bull's cities is getting low at this point. Usually there's only 5 to 10 units present.
This area showed Incan culture before but as we came closer it revealed the land was currently owned by Bull. We reach Cuzco, revolt and capture. There's quite some wonders inside as HC was wonder hogging: Hindu shrine, SH, GL, Great Lighth, Oracle, Chichen, Spiral, Notre Dame, Kremlin, SoL, University of Sank & the AP. Let's admit .. HC did a nice job, if only he had the units to defend those wonders.
power graph:
Bull is done for and according to the demographic screen, we're still the number one military power. At this point we own exactly 50% of the land and 50.79% of the pop. We need 64% land and 62% pop for a win.
1968 AD
Secondary sod reaches Moundville, revolt and capture.
Map overview:
1969 AD
Our main sod arrived at Ollantaytambo, revolt & capture.
1970 AD: Hey boss, are you sure we're on the right sea?
Nothing important, just Genghis discovering new "seas".
1971 AD
Main sod reached Carib, revolt & capture.
Secondary sod arrives at Chaco Canyon, revolt & capture. Two more cities left. We own 54% land / 54% pop at this point but many cities didn't come out of revolt yet.
1972 AD
Genghis captured the only city of Washington, resulting in the destruction of the American civilization. Since Washington was our internet target (& Bull), we get a new target which is Genghis. We get ecology, advanced flight & composites.
1973 AD: Eeeh, what just happened?
Ok, something happened. I took a few screenshots from the logs but somehow it's not in my folder. I'll try to explain, though I don't quite understand what happened anyways.
1: Mao Zedong spawned as a colony of Genghis.
2: Mao Zedong vassals and declares on Bull.
3: Genghis declares war on us.
4: Mao Zedong declares war on us.
5: HC declares war on us as a vassal of Genghis.
6: HC breaks free.
7: We're at war with everyone.
I "think" this is the result of the bug Qoutey talked about. This would "make sense" if Mao Zedong takes over the diplo from Charle+Washington. Combined with him vassalizing to Genghis and asking him to dow me .. It just can't be coincidence that Mao Zedong spawned and suddenly Genghis dow's us while he's pleased AND is at war with Bull already.
Anyways .. as Genghis had a small stack running around, I have to find that one first and eliminate it before it causes any trouble. Also we need to clear our seas from Mongolian naval units.
So I found it, it's not a big stack but I only have 1 unit defending in nearby cities as I didn't anticipate this. Luckily I can run some defenders to the targeted city.
A view of some close-by naval units.
The show must go on, I can't just drop everything just because Mr. Genghis decides to act like an idiot again. Our secondary sod reaches Mesa Verde, revolt and capture.
Diplo:
Isn't it lovely?
1974 AD
I propose a "stop war against BurN" trough the UN. We'll have this continent for ourselves before it passes. Then we could focus on a well-planned naval invasion on Genghis.
Genghis suicides his stack on our defense, we clean up his wounded units.
Reached Fort Ancient, the last Native American city on our continent. It had no culture defense so we capture it. We gained another GG from all the warring and I make a military academy in Akkad.
We also clean up those eastern naval units with our naval stack.
1975 AD
The UN peace proposition failed. Bah. I run our sod to Aachen where I have transports ready. We do some naval fighting but for the rest nothing important happens.
We have 64% land mass now .. but we still need 4% more pop. I have been putting farms down but I have too few workers for such a big empire to do it quick.
1976 AD
I decided to vassal Bull, he has one city left and it will add a bit to our pop. It's mostly due the fact that it's on a 1 tile island and it's a waste of turn to go over there and capture it.
