IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

Why on the same time i decided to do my beta I&B R is out?

(By the way I&B R is a realy great IOT.)

But if so few join at the Beta how many will join when i will start the game?

well... I have to read through the ruleset... but it depends when you release it and the games I'm already involved in at that time ;)

Because you didn't think of the possible ramifications for running alongside two large IOTs?

Or is it because your map sucks?

3 more people join or i will stop the IOT.

I'll join when you post the thread. Don't worry about people not pre-signing up - more people will sign up when a thread appears.

Between managing my IOT, real life, other IOTs, and playing a half dozen new games coming out soon, I don't think I can join it. If I find time and I see it's going fairly well I may join later.

So, you guys know that forum that I was spreading the word of IOT to? Well, I think I am about to succeed. My Imperium Althistorium II: After the Collapse has only been up for 24 hours, and already there are people fighting over territory! (and cramming into North America) Anyway, I think it would benefit (and get it even more deeply ingrained in AH.com NG culture from a few experienced IOT players.

Its using the IOT7 ruleset (with some small modifications) and the IOT7 map (also modified.

If you want to join, you will have to get an AH.com account and it will have to be approved (which usually takes a few hours) byn Ian the Admin.

Mosher, I think your account should be approved by now. (If it isn't, thats really sad!) So, you could join right away.

Anyway, here is the link 1 more time:

So can someone explain to me exactly what IOTs are? I've taken a (very cursory) look at a few of them and to me they seem like enhanced versions of diplomacy or risk. Is that the general idea?

Correct. And we still have a couple of places free in Iron and Blood: Redux, which is a replay of one of the most popular IOTs - Iron and Blood. See the last few pages to see how it developed.

That is a pretty good interpretation.

While the rules for every game are somewhat different with some being more complex than others, the main gist is that you are the leader of a nation and role play that nation through the game. Usually world domination is the main goal of the game, but many players play to their own goals.

There is necessarily a lot of diplomacy that happens, either in thread, in PMs or in Social Groups, so there is a certain amount of time that needs to be dedicated to the game, but you can also make of that what you will.

Iron and Blood: Redux is just starting up and has a few open spots. While it is one of the more complex IOTs, it might be a good one for you to join if you are interested.

See my signature for more details.

Pretty much. Some games have more complex rules but, on a very basic level, most IOTs are like Risk and Diplomacy without the urgent need to "win".
