IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

You called it "The Will to Power" but we can't play as übermenschen?!

So Ailedhoo is alive after all!

Afraid I'm not one to migrate forums; I bounce between CFC, Sonic Stadium and Facebook for all my social media needs. :p

WaR is now up for signups. Let's get as many people as possible! :D

The Politics of Empire (POE) is up! Another internal politics game, this one focused on 20th century Germany. Players join as a faction with great clout in German politics and can direct both domestic and foreign policy with adequate alliances and compromises, all while competing with each other to increase their share of Germany's power and resources for their own gain. Shall we create a Greater Germany that straddles Europe, or be crippled by the Treaty of Versailles?

Here's an idea: how about running an IOT game where battles are solved by miniature wargames?

wars are settled by mge matches in tf2

If you're outnumbered 2:1, you have to win 20 matches and only lose 10. Outnumbered 4:1, you have to win 20 matches and lose 5, etc.

Alternatively how about 1v1 in League of legends, with the same numbers :p

But watching dice rolls is a lot more fun than playing a MOBA.

Alternatively, rules allowing someone to pick a game, either attacker because they can choose when to engage, or the defender to either keep some balance or because the defender can decide how to move troops around to set up where they want to engage as well, and then have the two combatants duke it out.

The reason this isn't widely used is because it is extremely difficult to setup, unless you just get two AIs to duke it out but in that case it would just make more sense to roll some dice.

Make two AI COs fight each other in Advance Wars.

But we already have one, it was made by Sone. What was it called again?

SCS with Excel lets you mass run battles, which is always a plus, eh?

I do like the battle calculators above though.

You know, web-games like Travian have some sort of coded Battle Simulator
like these:

ONE
TWO

The results of a combat are based on the stats of the units (their strength, speed, etc.) + random numbers, and unit quantity.

If the game style is similar, we could use those;
or if we have someone that can do coding, maybe we could create a standardized Battle Simulator for IOTs.

I made one for Mosher's Appeal to Fear. It was designed for individual units; it kept track of countries, the units they had, the individual units' stats, and it had a battle calculator integrated.

Sons of Mars is up, a fairly simplistic game that allows for militaristic expansion but also encourages establishment of client entities and the like to avoid maintenance costs.

It also has a heavy focus on religious dominance.
