IOTer Diplomacy I

Yeah but what about the non-SC provinces? I want a complete political map.

Okay, is this an IOT or Diplomacy? Are we all technically at war with each other at all times? Will anyone care if two armies bump off each other? Are we expected to maintain existing alliances?

OOC: Interesting. probably thinking about joining. Question: About cheating: knowing that the stance of Diplomacy is that if you dont get caught before the next phase starts, it counts as legal play...how is that going to work out here?

I wasn't aware it was even possible to cheat.

OOC: About internal politics: Are coalition governments allowed?

I will be traveling to Denmark to assist in the ongoing diplomatic negotiations with the Danish, including the possibility of incorporating the Kingdom of Denmark into the German Empire.

I ask the Chancellor that he permits the use of the First Fleet to travel as an envoy for the mission.

-Hanz Beibert

I permit your use of the First Fleet.

its legal in the original game, so long as you don't get caught till after the turn advanced.

It led to a lot of chaos occasionally in some games.

"I wasn't aware it was even possible to cheat," doesn't mean that I didn't know cheating was technically allowed, it means I didn't know it was technically possible. What're they going to do, convoy an army to Scotland from Sevastopol with only one fleet?

You can't cheat in the orders you give. The game director reviews all the orders to make sure they're legal. If you lack the ships required to convoy, the convoy wont happen.

Ways to legally 'cheat':
Don't like how there is an enemy unit occupying one of your supply centers? Put the army in your pocket when noone is looking. If the everybody submits their orders before realizing the unit is missing, the unit is permanently removed from play!

Don't like the lack of armies on your northern border? Sneak a unit onto the board while no one is looking, if everybody submits their orders before realizing you added a unit, the unit is yours to keep until the following build phase (where you may have to disband it if you lack supply centers)!

Worried one of your newer builds wont get to the front line in time? Move it to where you want it. Again if everybody submits their orders before realizing the unit moved, the unit is there to stay! This one is the riskiest because if you get caught, the unit is given a hold order for the turn, so while it may help you by allowing you to move across the map in 1 turn, it may end up costing your unit a turn. For the others getting caught just means your allies might like you less.

Don't like how you don't know whether an ally is planning to stab you? Steal their orders sheet and use the information to determine your own orders!

Don't like how two players are talking in secret in another room? Sneak in and listen to their conversation!

Aaand time up for the German Social Democrats.

Kaiser Wilhelm hereby calls on the Centrist Party of Germany - lead by talonschild - to submit orders for the Empire within the next 24 hours.

In times like these we need strong able leadership to government this country, which isn't something we will see while the Social Democrats are in power. It is time for change, time for a liberal government.

-Hanz Beibert

The Centrists, left utterly uninformed by the alleged government, request all countries please bring us up to date. Preferably with a transcript of messages sent, if possible.

Our thanks to Italy for being so prompt.
