No defense against espionage and collapsing stability says otherwise.

Stability and spies or not, it is completely stupid to be able to get provinces on the other side of the planet to join you because of that. Revolt, maybe. Join nearby nations, maybe. Form their own nations, maybe, but that should probably happen with 20% stability anyway. Swaziland flipping that city in Shanghai or that city in Guiana, or California controlling Central Africa (Yes, I do think that's just as stupid, even if he is my ally) would be like if, in the real world, the US used spies to convince a part of China to become the 51st US State.

This is the only thing that will get Obama my vote.

Lurker's Comment - You'd rather have a Palin? :p

Once again, you don't start a war against your allies when you have 0 EP. We thought we were friends.

I have more than 0. I didn't think Joe had literally none.

Yeah, you have 385. Joe and Han have 0.

Yes, I had 0. I'll just say this but I hate with a passion espionage. I don't know what it is, maybe because it's gamey and it feels like cheating, but I hate playing the espionage game. Not just in this game though, I avoid it in all games, EUIII, Civ, HOI, I never bother playing and toying with espionage. And so I didn't in this one, I just wasn't expecting it to be incredibly unbalanced and gamey as it was.

IMO for balance espionage should be restricted to passive spying missions, and a few, very difficult offensive missions. And I mean very difficult, as in a very low chance of success. Because in real life, espionage was incredibly risky and most of the time didn't work.

It's true that he probably has literally 0 EP, but even so, the stuff you've done with spies to him over the last two turns aren't even remotely balanced.

^This pretty much. And I'm glad we're working on it for the second one.

We thought we were friends.

We were, until I sensed people were starting to kinda get disinterested in this game. People were posting less stories, things were quieting down, and it, to be blunt, was getting a tad boring. So, I tried to create something that would spark interest again, but rather, instead of that it just became an IOT world war; painful and not very fun. Mainly because of the unconventional, and incredibly unbalanced espionage system. Which, once again, I'm glad we're working on.

While I think there is a need to revamp the espionage missions (flipping is OP and revolts should be tied to stability as well as relative EP) the failure of a player to utilize a large portion of the game does not make the game broken.

I'm guessing having the rest of the world piled on you is also not very fun for them. ;)

Yes, but with their size, if they played it less gamey, it could have been a fun brawl at least :)

Now, it's just really nasty with all the flips and switches.

I am putting Australia up for sale if anybody else wants to play. Nothing against anyone, but I think this game has some balance issues. Eagerly awaiting I&B2.

Protip: Don't start world wars to make the game interesting. :)

Unfortunately you joined for the ride, and in the process screwed yourself over.

You know, I can't help but agree with this viewpoint.

For a while now, the game's been degenerating, and the last turn or two has clearly demonstrated some balance issues. And the thread is also seeing massive amounts of bickering between people, and it's even spilling out into other threads. The war's just made it worse instead of increasing interest, because a war fought mainly with ridiculous spy actions is just... stupid, and it doesn't feel even remotely fun, and I honestly don't think the game can be saved anymore.

So, sorry to any allies who wanted me to keep fighting, but I'm done with this. It just isn't fun any more and it hasn't been for a while. I'm done with the bickering, with the scheming, with the stupid unbalanced spies and stuff, and I'm done with all the stupid power plays some people are making. Goodbye, I'm leaving the game now.

As my final act as President of Librulstan, I give back the part of Chile I own to Texas, and the part of Germany I own to Germany, cause I would have done that anyway.

I also give my North American territory to my allies in the UNA to distribute between themselves as they wish, if I'm allowed to do that, because they've been screwed enough already by Siam and Australia leaving, and I want them to have at least some chance in this if they want to keep playing.
And even if I'm not allowed to do that (Nedim's territory revolted when he did that), at least let me give back Chile and Germany, cause those are cores of the ones I'm giving it to anyway. :p

GM: Librulstan territories will remain under Librulstan control until the end of this 48 hour response time. After which time it will then be neutralised.
