Iron and Blood: Redux - Game Thread

Yea, you're alive! At least as much as a borg can be... :D

I'm assuming with orders lock that means RP lock as well? Although in all likelihood its just the one piece this turn.

Crap. I never got to write mine. :(

Update 3
1841-1845

The world is at war. Well, at least two continents are. Be sure to check out the battle stats for all the details. As you can see capturing a capital province is not an easy task…

I’d like to keep up the individual nation updates, but I just don’t have the time (this update has taken me 6-8 hours today). You’ll just have to look closely at the map and stats to see what happened. It pays to pay attention!

That said, if you are wondering what happened with your carefully crafted plans, look and think first, but then PM or VM me if you have any questions. I am pretty sure the stats and map is accurate.

Spoiler Battles :

Spoiler Colonial Wars :

The Battle for Guiana was not much of a battle after all, since France-Paris didn’t even attempt to defend their far flung colony.
update3guiana.png

Neither was the battle for Angola. The Sultanate of Lusitania also didn’t bother to defend their new colony, and it was split between the forces of Kenya and Southrica.

Spoiler European War :

The first battle in the European theater was for the seas, with the British and FAR navies engaging the Byzantine navy in the Mediterranean:

With the routing of the Byzantine navy, an invasion of Spain from Lusitania and the Mediterranean was now possible. Unfortunately for the attackers, they didn’t have enough force to overcome the strong defenses the capital of Al-Andalus had in store for them and the forces of Al-Andalus and Manchuria:

Fresh off of their glorious victory in Spain, and with their attackers facing heavy losses, the Al-Andalus forces counterattacked into Portugal, with less than stellar success:

Lastly, the forces of Germany and Italy attacked France, with similar results as their compatriots’ efforts in Spain:

Spoiler Events :

A volcanic eruption in Mexico has devastated the countryside. Fortunately, the city itself was spared.

fig25.gif

  • Option 1: Send what aid we can to the survivors. Be thankful that the city itself was not struck - spend 5 IC
  • Option 2: Suffer loss of production near the eruption - lose 2 factories

---

A deadly influenza epidemic has broken out amongst the Southricans, originating in South Africa

cold_comfort_01.jpg

  • Option 1: Spend whatever is necessary to quarantine the Province - Spend 5 IC
  • Option 2: If only we had knowledge of the Vaccine! - Spend 7 IC on science
  • Option 3: The virus spreads to some nearby provinces and reduces their population - and lose 1-2 factories in two nearby provinces

---

Court magistrates in The Caribbean have falsified treasury records.

1964.jpg

Immediate Effect: It looks like our treasury is not as large as we thought - lose 3 IC this turn

---

A town in Madras has built several small mills, increasing local production.

Immediate Effect: Excellent. We could harness this production for other means as well - Gain 2 factories (if not at maximum)

---

In the undeveloped lands of the British Isles, archaeologists have unearthed a cache of ancient texts.

  • Option 1: Disperse the texts to various researchers and specialists, to see what we might learn - gain 5 IC science
  • Option 2: Fund an effort to preserve these artifacts in museums, accessible only to the most careful scholars - gain 200 cultural points

Spoiler Upgrades :

With war comes experience and innovation. A new army upgrade (Limey Warfare) is now available:

armyupgrades12.png

This upgrade costs 4IC, but will give your troops a 50% bonus in strength. Al-Andalus, Kingdom of Manchuria, Empire of Brazil, and the French Algerian Republic all receive this upgrade for free.

(OCC: Sorry for being lame and not coming up with a new name, or incorporating player actions (other than being at war) into getting it… I just didn’t have the time…)

Spoiler Current Stats :

Spoiler Current Map :

ibrmapupdate3ver2.png

Deadlines (All EST):
Initial DoW: 2300 Wednesday, November 23
Response DoW: 2300 Friday, November 25
Orders Due: 0800 Monday, November 28

Please let me know if I have missed anything or if there are any map or stats errors.

Spoiler Some Things To Note :

- I will not likely be online at the above DoW deadlines, so you’ll have to be patient on an official update. Just assume what is in thread is accurate and if there are any issues I’ll clarify when I am able to get online (likely Thursday night).
- Most of you are doing this already, but I want to remind everyone to put all your orders in one place. That means even if you have to PM me things you already posted in thread, just to keep it all concise. I can not stress how much this will make my life simpler.
- Just a reminder – but you can’t buy factories in a province unless you own it entirely.
- Also – when you send IC to a nation, that nation can’t use it until the next turn.

You missed all of my claims by the looks of it. :(

It does look like it, but I think you need to give the RNG gods some more offerings. They really didn't like you this turn.

Nations currently at war:

FAR vs. France-Paris; Al-Andalus
Lusitania vs. France-Paris; Al-Andalus
England vs. France-Paris; Al-Andalus
Germany vs. France-Paris; Al-Andalus
Italy vs. France-Paris; Al-Andalus
Brazil vs. France-Paris;
Manchuria vs. FAR; Lusitania; England; Germany; Italy
Kenya vs. FAR; Lusitania; England; Germany; Italy
Byzantium vs. FAR; Lusitania; England; Germany; Italy
Benin vs. FAR; Lusitania; England; Germany; Italy
Southrica FAR; Lusitania; England; Germany; Italy

**Please Note: I am revising the guidance I gave earlier regarding the response DoWs. As of this update, any nation may respond to an initial DoW even if they do not have a pre-established alliance with the nation they are coming to the defense of. This is after much thought and some feedback. It will simplify things for me and also allow more options for diplomacy.**

Except 10 is the total IC he has. He should have 8 spendable.

More importantly. I should have 6 IC. Three territories+five factories=8*.8=6

He has 8 total, but it has to do with the way it is calculated. It is 80% of each province IC, so with the rounding it ends up at 7.

He has 6 factories in Manchuria (5IC usable) and 2 Factories in Tartary (2IC usable) for a total of 8IC (7IC usable).

Wait, can you explain why I have 4 IC though?

After several years of toil, the Metis had managed to move their society forward into the Industrial Age. Many were happy with the developments as they knew it was the only thing that could help them stand up to Imperialist Europe. In the year 1841, lots happened. The North American Football League began. The Metis hosted the first season and Alaska, The Brotherhood of Iron, Mexico, The Caribbean, Russia and Manchuria attended and the league was a resounding success. After that was started, three factories were built in the province of the Yukon. By the year 1843, these factories were up and running. The rest of the money was thrown into tax refunds to please the people.

The Metis - 8 total.
6 IC into factories in Yukon
1 IC into Stability
1 IC given to Manchuria as a reward((Usable next turn))

ignore

Wait, can you explain why I have 4 IC though?

You've been spending all your IC on expansion, and not factories. You still have 5 factories, which gives you 4 usable IC at your current stability level (80%).

Persia:
6 IC:
4 IC into factories in Sind
2 IC into bribing Afghanistan

EDIT: Why weren't my orders from last turn counted? Last Turn

We will accept white peace (Assuming it means everything stays the same as it is this turn, otherwise I want Guiana) with France-Paris.

Empire of Brazil
7 IC

2 IC - Colombia

4 IC - 2 Factories in Guiana

1 IC - Science
