Viva la France, Part I
It had finally arrived. The day had finally arrived. Napoleon II was in a carriage, with his Empress and his children, riding to Tuileries Palace. The House of Bonaparte was once more on the throne of France itself. The Empire of the French was no longer confined to Quebec; and so it was acknowledged. The "in Quebec" was dropped, and a new flag was designed; the revolutionary tricolor charged with the coat of arms of the House of Bonaparte.
"Napoleon, are you feeling well? You seem almost ill."
Napoleon II looked over at his wife. She was in a formal dress for once; she had wanted to go in her military uniform, but he had not allowed it. "Do not worry, my dear, I am just excited. We have recovered France!"
"Well, pray calm down. We can't arrive at the ceremony and have you giddy as a schoolchild."
"But Mother, we are in Paris! How can you not be excited? After all the stories Father and Captain Lavigne told us." piped up Augustin Bernard Napoleon; their third son.
"He's correct, Marie. Paris is our home. We have escaped our exile, and are back home."
The Empress sighed. "Well, pray do be careful. I have a strange feeling about all this, and I don't like it."
