ITNES I - An Epoch of Change

Gospel of the Saints: Sayings of Saint Dekanahwida

These are the teaching of Saint Dekanahwida the Peacemaker, First Apostle of the Haudenosaunee[1] Nations. Thanks and praises be forever lavished upon him, for he was a teacher of men and a bringer of peace. He preached the Gospel in the face of arrows; taught peace when shown spears. Blessings be to the Earth, the Moon, and the Sea for all eternity. Amen.

"Bloodshed must cease; bloodshed will cease. It was never the intention of the Great Mother that Her children would take the lives of one another. Once all nations, all clans, all families, and all people have accepted the Gospel, the Good News, of Our Prophet Membertou and the saving baptism of Our Mother, peace will reign."

"The tree is a sign of unity, a sign of peace. Cherish it and love it, for it is the greatest gift of Mother Earth."

"Carry always with you a string of wampum. These show your dedication to peace and will aide you in prayer."

"Undertake nothing without first consluting your Mother. Our alliegance is to her first and to her last."

"I charge you to not fall into disagreement. Peace must be supreme among your nations as you strive to preach the Gospel."

"The soars higher than any other; the deer is swifter than any other; the bear is stronger than any other; the eel knows the rivers and lakes better than any other; the salmon knows the sea better than any other; men know our Mother better than any other."

"Forgivenace is always at hand. So long as you seek solace in the bosom of your Mother, your sins are worth naught."

"Our people have long worshiped Lord Sun, but is not the light of Mother Moon more soothing, the gifts of Mother Earth greater, and the undertakings of Mother Water more valiant?"

"In death we can have joy byeond the sun's arc, but at this moment we can bring joy to others."

"The death of martyr on the war path is truly glorious, but the death of a martyr singing the pacifists song is even greater."

"Never surrender, that is not the Haudenosaunee way; always stand up for the oppressed, that is the Haudenosaunee way."

"A single arrow snaps, a bundle holds strong."

"Those of you who persecute me, who punish me; those of you who refuse to abandon the rites of Tarhuhiawahku the Sky-Holder, listen to me now. Do you not realize that the Sky-Holder is but a guise of the Mother; a face through which the Trinity reveals Herself?"

The Onoghurians sent a prince of theirs to Tieh China through your territory. He mysteriously disappeared near your eastern border, and has not yet resurfaced. That is as much as most people know. ;)

And I don't suppose the forces I had guarding these very roads were competent enough to help along/keep watch over an important (and, as far as we were aware, friendly) foreign dignitary?

Unprovoked agression against people who matter ;)...

So it seems.

Orders sent.

OCC: Well his 'accidental' disappearence was rather convient wasn't it :mischief:. Soemtime you just need an excuse, be it 'unproked agression' or a lost ambassador.

I know it was arranged. That's the problem. Other were doing whatever they wanted in my territory, seemingly without my input at all. Now, I guess it wasn't particularly crazy, as subterfuge goes, but this stuff always works. I put 10 thousand people all along these roads, to guard against brigands and other disturbances, and it's as if they weren't there, all because someone else wanted to play out his own little drama in my territory.

If the ambassador himself/his close associates were in on it, what the heck are your guys going to do about the situation? ;).

Considering that the Chinese with a MILLION OR SO troops couldn't guard a frontier of about roughly that same size against invading barbarians, you should be happy

das I just realized, you never upgraded my prestige from unpopular to tolerable, and orders have been sent

Sent. Hopefully the map is usable. I'll spend more time on the next one so that it makes more sense.

Incidentally, I think I forgot to clarify it... The Nadruvians accept the treaty.

As an ahead warning: I'll have to take the NEXT week off from my modding schedule. It kinda ruins my consistancy record, but its not flawless anyway. The problem is that I have lots of fairly important stuff to do/finish next week, and so will probably be unable to do a (proper) update. Hope you don't mind terribly. You people always demand deadline extensions anyway (oh, and send orders too late. Speaking of which, Sheep...). :p

This update should come as usual, though, and if I do find time next week I'll try and update the nation descriptions, and possibly some other stuff.
