K8: MONSTER MAP - 362x362 map with 24 civs

Borealis: the game is yours. 24 hours 'got it', another 24 to play.

Partial turns reports count as long as entire ten turns take no longer than 72 hours. Exceptions possible.

'Bump'.

If borealis doesn't report in time, I'm ready to play. Though that will be on Friday. I've got 3 SG's that day, no problem :p

What I wanted to know however, are the others, like swiftsure and meli still interested? Would be a litlle quiet otherwise...

Aggie, go ahead. I've been ill, and I have other pressing commitments to catch up on first- I'll swap with you, and let you move the game along.

Turn 1 - 950BC Santiago builds settler. Starts temple. Settler goes east.

Turn 2 - 925BC Madrid builds settler, starts another. Pamplona builds temple, starts barracks. Ahem....I tried to switch Barcelona to a palace, but it wasn't a choice. I couldn't choose it in any other city....what's up  Switch Barcelona to granary for growth. All to prepare it for building TGL. I figured that barracks weren't needed for that...Cordoba built, starts warrior.

Turn 3 - 900BC Valencia builds granary, starts temple. Seville builds settler, starts temple.

Turn 4 - 875BC Murcia builds horseman. Starts another.

IT: The Germans build Salzburg between Barcelona and Palma. Palma is isolated now. The Ottomans build the Oracle.

Turn 5 - 850BC Vitoria built temple, starts settler.

Turn 6 - 825BC Madrid builds settler, starts another. Bismarck won't trade...

Turn 7 - 800BC Toledo and Santiago finish temples. Both start horsemen. Asturias finishes temple and starts worker. Logrono starts worker after warrior. Teruel founded at the east of the continent. Starts temple.

Turn 8 - 775BC Barcelona finishes granary and uses the FP as pre-build for TGL. Murcia finishes horseman and builds another. Almeria founded. Start temple.

Turn 9 - 750BC Valladolid builds warrior and starts worker. Valencia riots. Sorry people. I only checked the top shield producing cities on our first page in 'F1' :smoke:

Turn 10 - 730BC Madrid finishes settler, starts barracks. Asturias builds worker, starts barracks. Leon founded and starts warrior.

I followed Kiler's advice (I hope) and tried to settle near gold and other bonus tiles. It appears that corruption is no problem at all for us... I planned to grab river and gold tiles (good for research). Around turn 8 I decided to lower the speed of the settler build a bit and I choose for barracks, horsemen and temples. The AI appears to research very quickly. Pyramids, Colossus and Oracle are already built... Do we have a shot at TGL?

Valencia has an entertainer, because I didn't want to use the lux slider for one city in riot. Barcelona will grow very quickly now though. This might change things... Literature due in 5. Next Iron Working (swordsmen)? Or Map Making (galleys)?

We almost have reached 24 cities, about the number that the average civ will get in this game.

730BC

I'm have to catch up some sleep now. 5 hours of sleep per night is just not enough.... But I couldn't resist to play these turns.

darn i wish I caught this a little while back.. this map sounds fun. Oh well, I guess I'll watch. :)

Killer: during my turn I wasn't able to build a Palace - anywhere. What's up? Is this some kind of editor setting and are we therefore not in the position to pre-build (which would make the game more interesting...)? Luckily I could use the FP for pre-build of TGL...

Got it. Once we get Literature, should we go for Iron Working or Map Making? Galleys and more contacts would make TGL more valuable, but if we want to conquer Germany soon, Iron Working would be better.

what about masonry?

Don't the Germans have Masonry? If they don't have it, they'll get it soon... and I'll look into possibly acquiring it if necessary before then- the tech cost may drop significantly due to industrious civs on the map. (I'm playing right now.)

730 BC (0): The Germans do indeed have Masonry, as well as Iron Working and Map Making. We might want to take it from them :hammer: or just get it from the Great Library, if we can grab it. Barcelona, which will grow to unmanageable levels, is MMed for shields to prebuild faster- we'll get Literature in 4 turns, anyway. Vittoria swapped to rax from settler as we won't get very many more cities, even from the settlers we have currently roaming. Madrid swapped to temple as its growth rate is sky-high and it will need it soon- we have enough rax near the German borders that building one here can wait.

710 BC (1): Barcelona has a worker joining it, raising it to size seven, and allowing it to hire an entertainer while still growing. I know that we need more workers, but as the AI seems to be snapping up wonders fairly quickly, we don't want to lose TGL. It is currently MMed to grow in 30 turns- leave it there, as any further growth will require either an increase in the luxury rate or yet another worker added in.

690 BC (2): More temples/rax built; I'm not going to list them all, but the general build order for cities away from the border with Germany is defender-temple-rax-horse or defender-temple-workers in case of it being too far off in the jungle. Cities on the border are tasked to military duty as they already have temples. Zamora founded near spices and gold, in a jungle river.

670 BC (3):

650 BC (4): Literature discovered; I start research on Map Making in 17 turns at 6 gpt- as we're concentrating on horsemen, we don't need Iron Working immediately, and can possibly get it either from Biz or TGL. Barcelona swapped to TGL, due in 27 turns. Madrid MMed to grow more slowly as it will be unhappy when it does.

630 BC (5): Germany starts the Great Lighthouse. Santiago gets an entertainer for the time being- we need cash for a potential discounted buy of tech, and it has no more improved tiles to work with the extra citizen.

610 BC (6): German galley appears on the east coast, and will probably deposit a settler somewhere if it follows past patterns- just a heads-up. Otherwise

590 BC (7): German spear/settler pair spotted either heading for a galley at Bremen or to settle somewhere close to our boundaries. Map Making sped by a turn at the loss of 1 gpt... which didn't make a difference before. Madrid gets an entertainer, being fractious at size 6.

570 BC (8):

550 BC (9):

530 BC (10): Almeria and Teruel can be swapped to galleys when we get Map Making (in 9 turns), and there is a stack of horsemen at Pamplona, ready to ride across Germany once we get enough of them. Germany currently has a 'strong' military relative to us, as we have no spearmen, so our border cities WILL need spearmen built either right before or after we go to war, to avoid the German counterattack, especially if he has iron. He has Iron Working, but I haven't seen any swordsmen yet- keep an eye out for them. There's a galley lurking on our east coast, which will probably deposit a settler near our territory. It will be hopelessly corrupt for Biz, but it can be kept in mind as a city-to-be-demanded during peace talks if it makes it over. There is a settler active near the whales on the northeast coast, that can be moved if necessary, and another headed to grab the spices and fish on the north coast.
