I would like to join in turn 3, assuming it's too late to join in 2. I was going to play as Bosconia, but there are already two nations in the way, so I'll go with their derivative civ, the Horbite Empire.
THE HORBITE EMPIRE
Originally a part of the now-collapsed
Bosconian Empire, Horb declared independance during the rule of the tyrannical Empress Isabella II in the year 868 (calendar based from founding of Bosconia). After a bloody war of independence, Isabella was assassinated by a Bosconian Grand Duke and Horb was recognized by Bosconia. It is named after the revolutionary leader and first emperor Horban I. Its capital is in Taranto, and its two largest cities beyond that are Syracuse and Venice, in that order.
Its government is a constitutional monarchy, with current joint rulers Emperor Horban VII and Empress Illessa XI on the throne and Consuls Matticus Britonis and Flavius Antonius in the Oblong Office. The Parliament is bicameral, between the Senate and House of Peers. The main parties are the Royalist Party, which is authoritarian-rightist, the Populist Party, which is authoritarian-leftist, and the Self-Determination Party, which is libertarian-leftist. Britonis is Populist and Flavius is SDP. SDP controls the Senate, and the Royalists (like almost always) control the House of Peers.
Their national identity is one of freedom and trade, with undertones of imperialism. The language is Horbite Latin. Their currency is the Gold Mark, which is a floating currency. Social status is mainly based around nobility and income. Religion is completely free, and attacks on people, verbal, physical, or otherwise, based on religion, race, sexual orientation, etc. is considered a very serious offense. The main religions are the Abrahamics and a form of paganism revolving around the yin-yang concept in good and evil as well as creation and destruction.
They will start with 4 armies and 1 navy. They are open to negotiations with everyone, but are suspicious of less free states, political support being mainly for the SDP atm. They consider the Bulgarians and Greeks to be "brother" states as successors to Bosconia (if they admit it or not), and wish no conflict with them. Horb formally extends offers of Free Trade to Bulgaria, Hellas and the Neo-Papal States at the first opportunity.
