[LP] Leader Pass Pack 1: Great Negotiators (Nov. 2022) - Patch Notes Discussion

Wonder what they have planned for the next DLC, 'Great Commanders' with Tokugawa, Nader Shah, and new Suleiman persona? :shifty:
That's a nice Civilization there...

Would be a shame if it were, I dunno...

Gifted to me without consent.

The most pacifist trio of military geniuses you've ever seen. Tokugawa's ability will be written as a haiku.

As Moe put it in Calvin and Hobbes, "I'm not taking it. You're giving it to me because we'll both be so much happier that way."

For a cultural victory, you need to send caravans to all players. Now it's not profitable for Nzinga...

With Nader Shah spreading his paradise gardens all over the land.

At the end of the day we have a new leader pass with new professionally animated models. Modders can always find more creative abilities to go with them.

What I really need right now are bug fixes. Are these really the patch notes? Doesn't look like it. We're probably getting the rest of it when the Pass releases (so... right now hopefully).

Wait- I just looked into Lincoln Screenshot:

No mention of the additional amenities for the IZ. I'm beginning to be frustrated about the quality of the announcement. I know it's free, but that's not a reason to have such contradicting terms all the way.

Well, anyway, it's time, so I'll download it and see by myself. I think we will need an entire thread solely to clear up what their abilities are. For God's sake, just proofread what you post...

Thanks. These are the first I've written.
And the quality immediately shoots into the sky with your pen at the helm. Not to insult the other writers, they were okay at worst, IMO.

As someone who usually plays on Warlord difficulty, is by no means an expert, and sometimes goes for Domination for the lol's, I can say that +100% Flanking and and Support is actually bloody huge. Sometimes, Support Bonuses are the only thing that keeps my Units from dying, so getting more of that is actually good. +100% Flanking is also useful when dealing with any nasty Units or Cities that just won't be conquered.

Flanking/Support bonus would be also HUGE for religious domination, as it is key in Apostle battles. While the ability of Sultan saladin in paper is a bit MEH, I'd rather give it a try: may prove much more fun in game, making you focus on unit placement much more than other leaders (And a SSalaidin Mamluk carpet might be the most terryfing sight... only if the AI was able to put it forward). So I'm quite fine with it. It also matches the image of Saladin as a great strategist, at least.

Lincoln is flavorful, but maybe not that of a game changer. Of course the amenity hunt will change for him, and maybe makes you rely more in EC (and IZ). Not sure how to read "an Amenity after constructing Industrial Zones and their buildings": is it just +1 with a complete IZ, or +4? If +4 probably the ability malus impact won't be noticed.

Nzinga Mbande is the less interesting ability for me. I think her history deserves more than just an "I like my contintent" ability (that even we don't know which it is). She fighted Portugese, yes, but also negotiated with them, and allied with Dutch (which were as well foreginers). So i'm not sure what to think. Continent-based abilities are often matter of luck, also.

Is this all about the patch notes? I was expecting at least some balances and bug fixes. Lincoln's ability is the only one that captivated me in any way, Mbande Nzinga's is ok, and Saladin's is just... meh!

So the First Look mentions yields for staying on your home continent as Nzinga. So probably the text was right after all...
No, the text is trade routes and combat bonus. The FL talks about city yields.

Thinking about Nzinga a bit further...

I think this might be the first time I'll actively want to protect other civilizations in my own continent from being wiped off the map, or else you might get stuck with a -15% on all trading.
She gets a bonus to yields on her home continent so she wants her continent to herself.
