LK15 - India, to the end

I've finished my turns, and I'll post in the morning. The only thing I might have done worng is that I didn't pay out the nose for horses or iron to Persia, so we don't know where to settle for those resources. Hopefully we'll luck out though - we have an amazing amount of good land to settle. :goodjob:

Oi., I missed the sign up. Can I reserve a spot for the eventual LK16?

:rotfl:

Eventual???? Let's see how long you wait ...
I hope you like MONARCH. That game will be the "Monarch expirement".

I'll post the summary in the next few hours - I've got to post these files before I go to work, but I'm planning on doing the summary once I'm at work! :goodjob:

Summary soon!

Here I go!

2030 BC - Persia dials the phone and politely requests that we move our units out of his territory. Oh all right. Hillville finishes its warrior and begins a settler.

I check on our capitol and its associated great project, the Pyramids, and I notice that we have an entertainer. I try a little experiment, and I turn the luxury tax to 10% and take the entertainer off, which speeds up construction of the Pyramids by 12 turns!! This is well worth it. I plan on sticking another troop in there to further allieviate happiness problems, but there is little doubt we will get the Pyramids now. :goodjob:

1990 BC - In a battle whose glory will be sung for ages to come, our warrior defeats a barbarian warrior.

1950 BC - Our warrior scouting in the West completes his task and moves to the capitol to help keep those folks in line.

1910 BC - Cow Town finishes warrior, starts settler. I'm an expansion freak. :mutant:

1870 BC - Should we trade for Persian tech? Prices are pretty steep... I decide to put it off in hope of the Great Library...

1830 BC - Barbarians nearing the capitol. Goody hut sighted!

1790 BC - I note, with a non-trivial amount of joy, that the settler is timed perfectly in Hillville. The goody hut reveals.... maps!

1750 BC - The barbarian horde (1 warrior) is about to attack our capitol (2 warriors).

1725 BC - Our elite warrior defends the capitol - without losing a hitpoint! I am irrigating a grassland tile near Cow town... Now listen, I know that this is useless under despotism, but the idea is so that I can then irrigate the cow, so no flames please!

1700 BC - Writing discovered!!! I consider researching the back techs we don't have yet, but I pass, and start on Literature instead. I really want to get the library, if we can. I note the Cow Town settler is timed perfectly as well...

1675 BC - Settler completed - moving towards luxuries and flood plains towards Persia.

1650 BC - I brake down and trade Pottery and Alphabet to Persia for Bronze working and a tiny amount of gold. I just can't stand not having the option of building spearmen.

1625 BC - Cow Town produces Settler - starts on a spearmen, although I plan on changing this...

1600 BC - Capitol is going to go into disorder because I moved one of the warriors out to escort our settler - I still want to keep the current production rate going so add an entertainer- we really need to get those dyes online.

1575 BC - I notice the Persians have Iron Working.. and we all know what that means...

1550 BC - Hillville completes warrior - starts ANOTHER settler! We need to claim all this great land! I'm sending our second settler to a good spot in the NE that will have access to 3 hills, a cow, and several bonus grassland tiles... but I'm sending it without escort! I know this is a gamble, but there is a warrior right behind it...

1525 BC - I switch Cow town to temple - it needs those bonus grasslands. Settlers moving into position - I'm not putting them exactly where those dots are - the one in the south I'm going to put on the river and the one in the NE is a good spt but there wasn't a dot up there. Honestly, I don't think I saw the dots before I played - sorry Lee.

1500 BC - I hope I do this right - Settlers getting close...

1475 BC - I get to found two cities on my 20th turn!!!

1450 BC - Industrial Metal Works founded in the NE! I named it such becasue it is going to be a major production city someday, and I'm hoping it'll have iron. Pleasantville founded in the south, named for it's abundance of food (flood plains) and luxuries (dyes)! It also has several hills around, so it'll be great production also!

Our barbarian warrior also attacked a barbarian camp with a warrior in it, only to find a horsemen underneath??? Never seen that before, but our warrior is probably toast.

I think we need to build a few more workers in our new cities. Other than that, I think we are off to a good start! I think we should keep pumping out settlers until we can't expand anymore, then worry about war with Persia...

I've played enough regent that I should be able to handle monarch or die trying. Probably, the latter but I should be ok.

Interesting idea, playing through to 2050 without any other victory conditions. Since score is the key (even if you've eliminated everybody, you want to have a good score), you'll probably have to keep Luxuries and happiness higher than you normally would during the early game.

I'm subscribed to this thread :D

:sheep:

Gojky the farmer is put into power by the sacred cows of India. His first order of business is to raise the luxuries of the civilization and to change a few of the cities production.

On just his first turn as ruler the evil barbarians attack, most probably going for the cattle that we posses. We in turn destroy there camp and receive blessings in gold. Industrious workers are produced and more are ordered for India needs upgrading to become powerful.

Glorious news, the pyramids have been completed and much rejoicing is done for now there will be food for all those starving cattle. Da Capital is then asked to produce a barracks so that we may smite our foe with spearmen and fire.

We have finished the research of literature and have now started the code of laws; settlers are finished as to increase our empire quickly.

A sacred town is produced but unfortunately the mahatma did not name it so it was given a name by the evil governor, this must be changed.

More barbarian camps are destroyed and the culture of our great civilization is expanded in many places.

In a fit of rage Gojky is pulled out of office and in his place Exsanguination is elected.

PS. Spearmen can be built at a staggering 1 every 2 turns in DA Capital, this is brilliant at this stage of the game so unless something really important comes up this should be able to supply our whole civilization with spearmen.

Exsanguination could you please rename Delhi for me to something more appropriate such as Crazy town, etc.

The Persians are annoyed, this is never good. I also don’t think that we need the great library as we are going pretty well with the research by ourselves.

Here is a dot map of our land. There might be some better places so fell free to change them. There is a settler about to seetle in the space down the bottom and the two black dots should be settled as soon as possible. The rest are up too you.

Well we have no idea what the rest world is like - My vote, start the GL asap in Da Capital

Up next - Exsanguination

We may be doing good tech wise, but our goal is score, and culture figures into that. Also, we deny the other civs from benefitting from it if we have it. I would have to vote for building it also.

True, but If you look in the last picture we have 3 cities totally unguarded and with the persians right next to us with I might add IMMORTALS, it may be better to crank out tons of spearman.

Also there are two more settlers in the field right now with two more due in just a couple of turns, these also need defence and quickly, least the persians decide that we are to weak and eat us for breakfast.

If we are able to control the whole island then in the late game we will becom a major super power, so getting most of the island now saves us later.

Finnaly, if there are no more civs on our island the great library won't do us much good as we will still be doing all of the reaserch ourselves.

Alternate settler/spearmen production in cities. While building spearmen, the population in the city goes up, cutting down on the production time of the more expensive settler, and leaves no undefended new cities.

While it isn't a necessary wonder, the Great Library lets you set a bee line for military tradition in your research without the AI getting a tech lead. Usually, the AI will take the top branches of the tech tree first, getting education, producing universities, and getting a big lead on you in tech if you try. With the GL, you can research the botton tech tree, while getting the top techs from the great library until education, by then since all your research was in techs the AI wasn't researching, you have universities the same time as the AI with a tech lead. That strategy is why I almost never 0 out my tech research when I have the great library, I research techs that the computer doesn't until later, and can usually get 2 or 3 techs into the mil trad branch before education comes along.

Exsanguination told us in the German Equality Game thread that he can't play anymore... I assume that means he won't be playing here either...
