850 - Pre-turn - We need more happiness. The 20% luxury tax is killing our treasury. I check the trade status. In a bold move, I trade Banking to the Japanese for dyes and some gold! I then go around and sell it to anyone else who has money - and all I can get is 40 more gold. It seems everyone is broke.
This allows us to reduce the luxury tax by 10%, helping us out a lot. I change the Capitol to Cathedral however - it has severe unhappiness problems that will be completely cured by our sistine-enhanced cathedrals. Hill Ville set to pre-build for Adam Smith.
860 - Turn 1 - The resistance in LeeVille ends. Lots of immortals moving towards our elephants, but they are regulars! Most dispatched on the counter attack.
870 - Turn 2 - Assault on Bactra! One elephant makes elite and the city is captured. 2 immortals attacked and killed, along with another one near Susa.
In another bold move, Coastal Resort is switched to a Galley. I plan to use this to cut off Persia's iron supply.
I notice that the Japanese and Chinese (who I traded banking to) aren't selling it since all the other civs are broke!
I trade dyes to the Japanese for 6gpt + 11 gold.
880 - Turn 3 - A stack of 3 archers appears and kills one of our swordsmen! These archers will make great leader producing fodder. I attack them with three elite elephants. They all win easily, but no leader!
In other news, Industrial Metal works finishes Leonardo's Workshop!! Starts on an aqueduct.
Attack on Tarsus - One of our elephants killed by a spearman

but the city is captured! Our galley is ready to be loaded for operation "immortal iron invasion" (know known as III)
890 - Turn 4 - We need to build marketplaces and banks soon - cash flow sucks. Anyway - MAJOR immortal counterattack near Susa. Lose one elephant, and 3 more retreat. In retaliation, on my turn, I attack Susa! 2 pikemen, 2 immortals killed, but the city still stands. No more elephants lost on the attack, though. Several pull back for healing, however.
The Persians try to flank us and land an immortal near Bactra from a galley, but we kill him immediately with an elite elephant.
Attack on Tyre - it only has 2 spearmen defenders. I raze this one, as our forces are a little spread out and I need to regroup.
900 - Turn 5 - English offer to trade World Maps - ok!
The Persian counterattack is PATHETIC this turn - 1 immortal attacks an elephant and loses. I think Persia is done for...
OPERATION III- Two of our elephants unloaded one square from only remaining Persian iron deposit, and it is undefended!

The Chinese and Japanese have gunpowder!!! And they want an arm and a leg for it!
I attack Susa again - defended only by immortals, and Susa captured!!!
910 - Turn 6 -
OPERATION III - An immortal moves to defend the iron - we attack and beat it easily! Our troops stand atop the iron, and will pillage next turn!!!
In addition to that, our forces are moving on the Persian Capitol! Around 10-15 elephants closing in.
920 - Turn 7 - An Immortal attacks our operation III force and is easily repelled. We pillage the square -
The Persians have no iron!
Hordes of elephants nearing the Persian Capitol!
930 - Turn 8 - The Persians resist... A little - one of our elephants near Persian capitol killed, and another immortal is seen moving toward the iron to try and free it.
Attack on the Persian Capitol - 3 elite units attack first - kill 2 pikes and a spearman, no leader. Our veteran units finish the job - and the
Persian Capitol has fallen!
940 - Turn 9 - An immortal forces one of our elephants on iron to retreat. both are down to 1 hp now... I guess I'll have to pull them off...
Economics discovered! Hillville switches to Smith's Trading company. The people expand the Palace.
Our forces are moving on Pasargadea(?)
950 - Turn 10 - The English have Astronomy!!! We are losing our tech lead! Time to hit the trading board.
Trade the Babylonians horses for gunpowder

What a deal! Suckers.
I trade the English Astronomy for our silks and dyes (we have extra now) They are some happy folks, but we have a tech lead again.
Important The AI can build caravels now, which means the will soon contact the Persians and likely catch them up in tech. We need to sell our communications before the others discover them, and get anything we can for them!
Just like that, we have Gunpowder and Astronomy. We have one source of saltpeter near Pleasantville, already connected! Another source is near Persepolis (which is now ours!

)
Three elites attack Pasagardae - no leader! City stands.
960 - Turn 11 - Attack on Pasagardae - Elites first. 3 elites kill three defenders,
and a Great Leader emerges!!!!! Sent to rush FP in Tarsus. this looks like a great spot - centrally located in our Eastern Region, surrounded by cities. (note to Ike: this decision was made before four of those more southern cities were captured, so at the time it was the best choice. Still a good choice, IMO). Oh yeah, the city is captured too...
Operation III update - we are moving off the iron to go back to heal. The Persians are done for anyway.
The Persian city of Arbela captured. Gordium captured.
970 - Turn 12 - Sardis captured. All of our internal cities changed to infrastructure. War Weariness really setting in. 2 settlers produced to fill in caps left by the 2 cities I razed.
980 - Turn 13 - The Palace expands, The Forbidden Palace rushed, and 2 settlers moving towards open land.
SUMMARY - This was the turning point in the game, and I don't think it could've gone much better. All the good Persian cities are ours. The Forbidden palace is built. We have a tech lead. We are huge.
We can win this game any way we want, now. The next leader has a couple of options, as I see it.
1) Finish off the Persians. We have enough elephants to do it without building any more, I think. We need to cut off that iron again, but that shouldn't be hard. The problem here is war weariness - we might have to go to Monarchy to finish the war, which wouldn't help our tech lead.
2) Call for Peace and go for infrastructure. With the war weariness ended, I bet you can turn off luxury tax all the way, and we can really start going for science.
Most important -
We need marketplaces, banks, and universities everywhere! We have cash flow problems! Also, don't forget to sell those Persian communications!!!
Good luck!
