LK15 - India, to the end

So much to say, so little time.

8) Christmas Ville starts the forbidden palace, which is probably the best place for it.

Please cancel the FP in ChristmasVille. This city is at 75% productivity. The effects of the FP will be wasted

I don't think we should bother, until after we take some Persian cities.

Of course, if it could cascade to Sistine.

:)
Golden ages in the MA wonder rush.

Inherited: Hillville switched to aquaduct. Filler switched from courthouse to library, it was only losing 1 shield/commerce. Hmmm, Persia is in anarchy. babylon and germany are at war. We have a 134 point lead in score :goodjob: Babylon has no iron or horses. Germany doesn't have horses or pikemen. Russia has no iron or horses, and has betrayed our friends, the japanese.

And then there is this :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

We have caught up to everyone in tech, and have a 1 tech lead on a few civs, so I up the science rate again. I want a lead, not to be equal. science set to 40%, engineering in 8 turns.

Immortal bait switched to library and rushed, its surrounded on 3 sides by persian cities. Christmasville switched to library, its too close to the capital for the FP, Gordium or Antioch look like much better choices.

1) 400 Our galley finds a new island between us and germany.
The Japanese start the Hanging Gardens.

2) 410 galley starts exploring the coast of the island SW of china/england.

3) 420 Cowtown starts a settler for the island between us and germany, there is iron on that island.

4) 430 galley arrives for settler, due next turn.

5) 440 settler and pikemen depart on galley

6) 450

7) 460 Engineering learned, Invention started. Industial Metal Works switches to palace as placeholder. Roads between persian culture borders being pillages? now who would do such a thing :flamedevi
Japan starts Sun Tzu's.

7) 470 more road pillaging
The Russians start the Hanging Gardens

8) 480 hmmm, do we want Sidon? sure, we will take them   Next settler group put on galley for island, after doing a bit of exploring, settler there moves onto a horse.

9) 490 Horse Island founded.

10) 500 The end of our golden age causes Da Capital to go into disorder. scrolling through our cities prevents any others from doing the same.

The results so far? You be the judge ;)

HeHeHe - I see I am not the only person to jerk around AI roads outside of borders ...

Sidon :) I have a feeling that one would go.

Well, I see I have something for tomorrow night.
Heading to sleep.

Still need the save game

11) 510 2nd settler group unloaded on the island.

12) 520 Fishtown founded.
Chinese start the art of war

13) 530 Invention learned, Theology ordered.

14) 540 Sun Tzu's completed. Leo's ordered. Babylon cascades to Hanging Gardens. Russia cascades to Hanging Gardens.

15) 550 Hanging Gardens completed. All those poor wasted AI shields

16) 560 3rd settler group dropped off on island.

17) 570 Persia demands contact with the English, we say no. He is still polite.

18) 580 4th and final settler group boards the galley.

19) 590 Theology learned. Chivalry started. more road pillaging as perisans rebuilt them finally. IMW switches to Sistine, 30 turns away.
Babylon starts the Sistine Chapel. Chinese start the Sistine chapel.

20) Coastal Watch founded.

Oops, I numbered 2 turns as 7, took 21 turns by mistake :(

We have a 160 point lead over England. Germany and Babylon are still at war, the only thing I have seen happen so far is Leipzig was captured by the Babylonians, and recaptured by (or flipped to) the Germans.

Immortal Bait is poised to capture 3!! Persian cities, their borders haven't expanded, and I rushed a library and temple in IB so its borders extend out 3 spaces. Hamadan and Ergili are in this radius, Samaria is 4 away from IB.

Chivalry in 8 turns, and poor persia hasn't connected their iron yet. Almost makes me wish I had been building up an army, but I was concentrating on infrastructure and settling the island between us and Germany.

Here is a map of our land, and that of persia. Don't blink, if LKendtor starts building war elephants, someone will have alot of fun really soon

I think I am beginning to dislike the 500k max size

Ok Ok so mabey cristmasville wasn't the best place for the forbiddon palace but I don't think that putting it as far as gordium is the answer.

Beacause we have to be able to build the forbidden Palace and unless we get a Great Leader it will take about 300 turns.

If we had a comprimise and put it say at around Tyre this, after a courthouse could build it considerably faster.

Anyway, hurrah for the indians, if we start a war soon with persia then we wont have to even worry about these stupid immortals.

Oh and one last thing.
Since we got Sun Tzu, did you go through the cities that had a barracks and sell it. I know it's a bit weird but that could still net us about 50-60 gold.
Any way good luck Lee.

Our plan - part 1

The persian death zone.

The persians keep dropping immortals to the to x spots.
Our realitively health WE keep dropping from the moutains, kill, then make to the mountains.

This has been keeping the immortals busy until
:die!:

Those proposed line of attack.

This take advantage of the borders, and our speed 2.

Pre-turn
I follow Gojky sugestion for barracks selling. We go from 163 cash to 218 gold. :)
Only 2 civs will trade for dyes, and both offers are a joke.

Leos due in 29. Sistine due in 23. I swapped building zones, as I feel Sistine is more important.

The threat of Persia is over.

Our biggest weakness - Not enough workers.

610 AD - Well that didn't take long. Hamadan is now an India city.
620 AD - Pillage road - if that breaks some happiness...
The palace expands.
Russia, Japan starts Sistine.
640 AD - Iceland is formed. The island is complete, just needs to lock borders.
I notice a single Persia archer move to Sidon. Is Persia going to be that stupid?
Does the AI sneak attack with a RoP? Several units moving toward Sidon.
Science to 40%, to get Chivalry 1 turn sooner.
650 AD - I was right :(
Our warriors that I had already brought to the front, are upgraded to swordsman.
A defensive war for a bit, until some WE come on line.
Losses - 1 dead Persian Archer.
660 AD - Fast growth in Da Capital pays, Sistine now in 15. Since I didn't expect it my turn...
Persian horseman appear, kill a warior and swordsman.
Chivalry is here. Reseaching Education, I know it kills the Library, but I want to get the jump on

Economics.
Another Palace expansion.
670 AD - Mined hill shaves one turn of of Leo's.
6 we under construction.
A persia archer kills a pikeman?
680 AD - Some revenge, dead horseman and warrior.
Dice roll nice, pikeman beats archer.
700 AD - 2 dead archers.
710 AD - Another dead archer. The Elephants start to arrive.
2 workers land on our new island.
Will Persia try 6 archers vs. Pikeman on Mountain - No :(
720 AD - 4 dead Persian archers.
I haven't gotten a military promotion yet.
[dance] I finally get a dyes deal worth it, to China for $49, wm and $4/t.
730 AD - GACK! Persian Immortal spotted.
Elite Elephant - finally, a chance at a GL.
I must have confused the AI, as the immortal does nothing
740 AD - Revenge of india -
there losses - 1 horseman, 2 archer, 1 immortal.
ours losses - 1 swordsman
Our elite needs to heal.
750 AD - More dead persian, 1 swordsman lost.
Another WE goes elite.
Reduce science to 10% to boast the treasury.
Banking on order.
760 AD - Immortal kills a pikeman.
770 AD - Persian troops already thining out - offensive time - assualt on Susa begins - 2 spearman

die, but it holds. Another Immortal is spotted in Susa.
Another WE goes elite.
 3 immortals come out of Susa. 1 dead pikeman.
780 AD - Rest our units.
800 AD - Kill 2 defenders in Samaria.
[dance] We get the Chappel.
810 AD - Kill several persians that cross to close to Chirstmassville.
820 AD - Finnaly, a capture, Samaria is ours.
830 AD - Begin the assualt on Ghulman.
840 AD - Ghulman falls. Yet again kill a stack of immortals that wanders to far from Susa.
Germany and Babylon sign a peace treaty.
850 AD - Ergilli falls - we capture a size 5 city.

Summary -
1 - Kill Persia.
2 - If we get a leader, save if for the FP.
3 - We are running a deficit, but I want to win the race to Smith's.
I have handle the deficit by well world maps for +20 or more every couple of turns. Keep the galleys exploreing, and good map price.
4 - Susa was a death trap, wait awhile. The 2nd front is working well.
5 - PREBUILD for Smith's.

Up next - charliehoke

I don't have time to write the summarytonight but here is the game. Things went very well. We captured or destroyed 10-11 Persian cities, including their capitol, made some very nice trades to keep us in a tech lead, and we used a leader to rush the forbidden palace. I took 13 turns and stopped. The next leader can decide to wipe out the Persians completely or stop and go for infrastructure (which we need badly!)

I spent almost lal my turns producing for the war, which explains our lack of infrastructure, but we have got this game all but locked up.

A pic of our new lands and our new Forbidden Palace, in a great site.

Well, I probably would have put the FP a little deeper into former Persia, but I am glad to have it :D

I say kill Persia :die!: The ultimate solution to flipping cities.

Please Micro-manage Da Capital. It saves 4 turns. Move the 2 grassland with shields to a forest, and the double shield grassland.

Can we trade all of our new silks?

850 - Pre-turn - We need more happiness. The 20% luxury tax is killing our treasury. I check the trade status. In a bold move, I trade Banking to the Japanese for dyes and some gold! I then go around and sell it to anyone else who has money - and all I can get is 40 more gold. It seems everyone is broke.

This allows us to reduce the luxury tax by 10%, helping us out a lot. I change the Capitol to Cathedral however - it has severe unhappiness problems that will be completely cured by our sistine-enhanced cathedrals. Hill Ville set to pre-build for Adam Smith.

860 - Turn 1 - The resistance in LeeVille ends. Lots of immortals moving towards our elephants, but they are regulars! Most dispatched on the counter attack.

870 - Turn 2 - Assault on Bactra! One elephant makes elite and the city is captured. 2 immortals attacked and killed, along with another one near Susa.

In another bold move, Coastal Resort is switched to a Galley. I plan to use this to cut off Persia's iron supply.

I notice that the Japanese and Chinese (who I traded banking to) aren't selling it since all the other civs are broke!

I trade dyes to the Japanese for 6gpt + 11 gold.

880 - Turn 3 - A stack of 3 archers appears and kills one of our swordsmen! These archers will make great leader producing fodder. I attack them with three elite elephants. They all win easily, but no leader!

In other news, Industrial Metal works finishes Leonardo's Workshop!! Starts on an aqueduct.

Attack on Tarsus - One of our elephants killed by a spearman  but the city is captured! Our galley is ready to be loaded for operation "immortal iron invasion" (know known as III)

890 - Turn 4 - We need to build marketplaces and banks soon - cash flow sucks. Anyway - MAJOR immortal counterattack near Susa. Lose one elephant, and 3 more retreat. In retaliation, on my turn, I attack Susa! 2 pikemen, 2 immortals killed, but the city still stands. No more elephants lost on the attack, though. Several pull back for healing, however.

The Persians try to flank us and land an immortal near Bactra from a galley, but we kill him immediately with an elite elephant.

Attack on Tyre - it only has 2 spearmen defenders. I raze this one, as our forces are a little spread out and I need to regroup.

900 - Turn 5 - English offer to trade World Maps - ok!

The Persian counterattack is PATHETIC this turn - 1 immortal attacks an elephant and loses. I think Persia is done for...

OPERATION III- Two of our elephants unloaded one square from only remaining Persian iron deposit, and it is undefended!

 The Chinese and Japanese have gunpowder!!! And they want an arm and a leg for it!

I attack Susa again - defended only by immortals, and Susa captured!!!

910 - Turn 6 - OPERATION III - An immortal moves to defend the iron - we attack and beat it easily! Our troops stand atop the iron, and will pillage next turn!!!

In addition to that, our forces are moving on the Persian Capitol! Around 10-15 elephants closing in.

920 - Turn 7 - An Immortal attacks our operation III force and is easily repelled. We pillage the square - The Persians have no iron! :goodjob: Hordes of elephants nearing the Persian Capitol!

930 - Turn 8 - The Persians resist... A little - one of our elephants near Persian capitol killed, and another immortal is seen moving toward the iron to try and free it.

Attack on the Persian Capitol - 3 elite units attack first - kill 2 pikes and a spearman, no leader. Our veteran units finish the job - and the Persian Capitol has fallen!

940 - Turn 9 - An immortal forces one of our elephants on iron to retreat. both are down to 1 hp now... I guess I'll have to pull them off...

Economics discovered! Hillville switches to Smith's Trading company. The people expand the Palace.

Our forces are moving on Pasargadea(?)

950 - Turn 10 - The English have Astronomy!!! We are losing our tech lead! Time to hit the trading board.

Trade the Babylonians horses for gunpowder  What a deal! Suckers.

I trade the English Astronomy for our silks and dyes (we have extra now) They are some happy folks, but we have a tech lead again.

Important The AI can build caravels now, which means the will soon contact the Persians and likely catch them up in tech. We need to sell our communications before the others discover them, and get anything we can for them!

Just like that, we have Gunpowder and Astronomy. We have one source of saltpeter near Pleasantville, already connected! Another source is near Persepolis (which is now ours! ;) )

Three elites attack Pasagardae - no leader! City stands.

960 - Turn 11 - Attack on Pasagardae - Elites first. 3 elites kill three defenders, and a Great Leader emerges!!!!! Sent to rush FP in Tarsus. this looks like a great spot - centrally located in our Eastern Region, surrounded by cities. (note to Ike: this decision was made before four of those more southern cities were captured, so at the time it was the best choice. Still a good choice, IMO). Oh yeah, the city is captured too...

Operation III update - we are moving off the iron to go back to heal. The Persians are done for anyway.

The Persian city of Arbela captured. Gordium captured.

970 - Turn 12 - Sardis captured. All of our internal cities changed to infrastructure. War Weariness really setting in. 2 settlers produced to fill in caps left by the 2 cities I razed.

980 - Turn 13 - The Palace expands, The Forbidden Palace rushed, and 2 settlers moving towards open land.

SUMMARY - This was the turning point in the game, and I don't think it could've gone much better. All the good Persian cities are ours. The Forbidden palace is built. We have a tech lead. We are huge.

We can win this game any way we want, now. The next leader has a couple of options, as I see it.

1) Finish off the Persians. We have enough elephants to do it without building any more, I think. We need to cut off that iron again, but that shouldn't be hard. The problem here is war weariness - we might have to go to Monarchy to finish the war, which wouldn't help our tech lead.

2) Call for Peace and go for infrastructure. With the war weariness ended, I bet you can turn off luxury tax all the way, and we can really start going for science.

Most important - We need marketplaces, banks, and universities everywhere! We have cash flow problems! Also, don't forget to sell those Persian communications!!!

Good luck!

:goodjob:

I think that since we are religious it would be beificial to switch to monarchy then back to republic! I'm definantly goona kill the stupid persians.

Back I say, Back, to the grave!

Bahahahahahahaha!!!
