[NFP] March Update Video Discussion

Good to see Portugal officially confirmed, and can't help but notice that Firaxis are continuing not to rule out further content beyond the New Frontier Pass, so there is still hope for more Native American representation!

Love the choices for the new world wonders, as they consist of two which I've always wanted to see in the game! Although it's a little odd that Etemenanki only has six terraces, when it is famous for having seven...

Not very fussed about the zombie defence mode, but can we have that barricade improvement in normal games as well please?

It seems they didn't miss any frames this time. Sad.

Also, it appeared that the ability to construct the Unique Improvement was available when the Unique Unit was outside of Portuguese territory.

So basically identical to Civ 5's Portugal Nau + Feitoria combo?

They better not rehash the other ideas. Civ 5 Portugal was my least favourite Civ in that game.

Anyway, Wetlands looks loads of fun with Vietnam, so that will be the game i'll play when the pack drops. (followed by Portugal on Island Plates I guess.)

Calling all modders! Calling ALL MODDERS!

If there is gonna be #OneMoreSeason I'm hoping for Navajo and Iroquois (though I might prefer they be called the Haudenosaunee), Tibet, and Hawai'i

Zombies mode looks disappointing. I've played Red Death once and know for sure my fave faction is Zombie Hordes, and yet this new mode just looks utterly boring. The fun part of Zombies is controlling them and yet that looks super situational in this mode. Also couldn't you just run the project til it's 1 turn from completion super early and then keep that production saved for later?

Also we still don't know what Zombie mutation strength is, right? or did i miss it?

You have to love the music right? Portuguese fado + zombie talk, the never seen :p
Once again, I say, it SLAPS.

I don't think they'll rehash it completely, just take some old ideas while interjecting some new ones.

I had a hunch this pack would have wonders and a new map.

You mean, aside from the fact that the NFP literally stated from the start back in the summer of 2020 that this last update would feature wonders and a new map? Yeah, I had a hunch too : P

So the new map is continents with more marsh? That is very... basic and dissapointing. The wonders look nice and Portugal will probably be fine but wow what a whimper to end the pass with.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping for maybe an official larger true Earth map that let you do more than 7 civs, so it's hard for me to get excited about this, but oh well.

Marsh Petra is cool.Google is telling me "Mesopotamian Marshes" are totally a thing as well, so not a out of place as I initially thought.

Some of the actual mechanics of zombie mode look cool (like traps/barricades/the spy mission), but what I wanted from the Zombies - a late game 'pandemic' placeholder to shake up the end game - is definitely not coming.

It basically just looks like another early game 'win harder' mechanism for the player - i.e. kill barbarians, make zombies, turn zombies, send against AI.

Was kind of hoping for an apocalyptic GAME OF THRONES-style Long Night zombie affair, this seems kind of basic tbh... feel like they could have done more with this mode

Yes, you've said this many time. Judging by the connotation in which you used it, I can only assume that this is a . . . good . . . thing?
Your comment S-when people say something slaps, they mean it's good. Almost lost myself there.

Not exactly "identical" since the Naus in Civ 5 got a lump sum of gold when their ability was used in a CS territory (the value depended on how far the CS was away from Portugal's territory).

I don't dislike the wonders, they seem fine, nothing groundbreaking, if anything the Etemenanki will be nice to build if you've got the terrain for it or are Egypt, like so many other wonders.

Portugal I'm curious to see,

and zombies, meh, never using that one.

Me: Few there was not another Mesopotamia civ as how would I fit it in.

Firaxis: Can I interest you in a Babylonian world wonder?

Me: why do you do this to me?
