I don't mean to poke fun or insult. It's just an observation one can make walking around a college campus. And if you're a junior in HS, that's not too far off from being a college freshman. I'm not going to say you're imitating someone older than you (brother, cousin, friend?) by wearing plaid shorts, but it is definitely a style I associate with those kinds of people.
