Moar Units Mod

MOAR Units Mod 1.2

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I have more or less finished put the artdefs together for a second batch. If you have any ideas for gameplay effects for these then I'd be glad to hear them.

Great work. I'm literally waiting for you to upload this patch before I start my Norway deity game.

Would you be able to tell me if there's anyway for scythia, instead of getting a second horse free, they can maybe just get 50% production off the next one??

This isn't the place to talk about this. But you do realise that would loop right? you'd build one, then the next one would be 50% but because you built it the next one would also be 50% again.

Like your work!
But I face a problem: My minuteman looking like warriors with the icon of the builders. Combat value seems ok with 58
Am I the only one? Any idea?

Nope, same here... generic art and icons displaying for the new units.

I would guess this is the same bug as with the missing description strings... loading a modded save or starting a new game without a fresh application start causes cached data errors. Glad to see this civ5 problem making a return

I believe this also gets baked into any save made after it occurs, so simply restarting will not fix the issue... you have to start a new game or back up to an older, "clean" save.

edit: misread the OP... fixed. Only the missing text is related to hot-loading bug.

I'm amazed at the versatility of unit parts. I would've thought they were whole models, and that you couldn't just swap equipment bits here and there. This is great.

So, just curious, could you use the Modern AT guys to fashion some kind of Modern Infantry? There's no modern assault rifle model in the game, as far as I know, but I wonder how the Infantry unit would look like using the bodies of the aforementioned soldiers. I've always hated how actual people disappear in Civ's modern warfare, and most everything becomes vehicles.

This sounds like you haven't installed everything correctly. This isn't a conventional mod in that it relies on overwriting certain core game files to add the new graphics in. (We don't know how to achieve this via a mod yet.) See point 3 under the installation instructions in the opening post. If you're installing it right you should be overwriting the files: Units.artdef, Icons_Units.xml, Icons_UnitFlags.xml and Icons_UnitPortraits.xml.

Whoops... egg on my face. Failed to read that last line in the OP.

So, the text error is an actual bug with game loading and cached data. The missing art, however, is a bug in my reading comprehension skills :D

So, installing it correctly fixed things up nicely. Very nice work btw, Deliverator.

Haven't worked out a way to be able to zoom in further so upscaling units to get a closer look at what is going on...

In the console, type camera config DebugCamera . That allows zoom below the default minimum.

Type camera listconfigs for a list of alternates. There isn't really anything else useful there, but it does suggest we may be able to write our own camera configurations, provided that these are accessible. The crazy config allows for maximum zoom out... which is way too far... but it would be nice to make a custom configuration that allowed something further than default.

I feel like if anything, Germany needs something Medieval. To go with Barbarossa.

Hope you like the updated version! I added some historical info for each new unit but I couldn't work out how to get it to display in the Civilopedia in game. If anyone can figure out what I need to add I'd be happy.

Thanks for the info. Is this with Firetuner console? I've never actually started it up. How do you do it?
