The new name should reflect the equality of the sections, for the glory of the Commonwealth.
64.86% in favor of merge, no? Popular consent is for the merge, so we should start preparing, conducting a plan of our future.

Most? AA counted 23 of the 47 voters in favor of a merge are IOTers (at the time) and there are IOTers against the merge. Whether AA counted dual citizens is another matter but there is no doubt that the 24 are to be considered.

I never thought I'd say this regarding a merger, but I agree with Lucky here.
For him, for NES, NES is a special term. I don't NES as much, so I cannot claim it's as special for me, but IOT holds a similar place in my heart. I think that we're going to have to keep both NES and IOT in the name. I don't care how we order it - chronologically, sizewise, doesn't matter - but these names have meanings to both communities and we shouldn't ditch them for a "new future", whatever that's supposed to mean.

I agree also. NES-IOT or IOT-NES...I could never abandon those three letters.

The end of the world from letters? Emotion in word? Then may the end cometh! If cleansing IOT and NES from existence is the end bringer then I will signal the trumpet! Let Ragnarok commence!
On serious topic: for the sake of the blur, of the children produced from IOT and NES along with those who connect to neither identities, I declare that the future is purple, orange and green. That is why IOT and NES must be a product of the merge but that in union we must adopt a name that serves as a common bound, the European to French, Britain and Serbia etch. Calling us "IOT-NESians" or NES-IOTians" or "IOTNESers" or NESIOTers" is going to sound odd; we must prepare for the identity of the Commonwealth, of this United Kingdom. A new identity must be forged for us to get behind.
What will the benchmark be? What will be the Germany which Prussia, Saxony and such we behind? What name will be our new dominion? Who will be our Bismark? World Building Games is a potential candidate but there are possibly richer words out there...
We must not destroy IOT and NES: we should place a common banner for them!

We're going to go with Never Ending Stories/Imperium Offtopicum for the initial subforum title (hence for why I like Nesiots as the word to refer to each player), and probably have a sub-heading of "Combined subforum for previously separate Never Ending Story and Imperium Offtopicum forum games." That subtitle would remain even if the overall subforum title gets renamed by popular acclaim. We'll definitely have a poll after the merger on which name to take/keep and open things up to suggestions, but for the foreseeable future, it will be named above.
Now, for those concerned about the actual process of the merge, here's how it would take place from a mechanic standpoint:
1. The Never Ending Story subforum will act as the base for the newly combined one. IOT threads would be moved by staff to the Never Ending Story subforum and from there the name would be changed and the actual technical merger would be complete. That's when the real work begins.
2. To begin with all stickied threads will be kept intact, but of course there is duplicate information in some of those. So the next big forum project would not be deciding the name, but rather deciding on how best to consolidate those threads without losing any particular information. My suggestions would be a combined FAQ thread, a combined chat thread (for instructions on how to enter either/any chat), a game advertisement thread where people could announce newly launched games and advertise for players, and a reference thread for books, maps, and so forth. Of course, the content/subject of these threads would be up to the player base, though I do plan on launching a "Here's Your Moderators and What We Can Do for You" thread right off the bat. None of the old sticky threads will be deleted, but I feel personally that these older threads will be made somewhat obsolete by the merger and could use some reworking and rewriting.
3. The other stuff. In here we'll need to decide on the fate of existing OOC/silly threads, whether to continue use of what we have or consolidate. Specifically in this case I'm referring to the Argentina and WWW threads. In this step we'll also figure out what we want to do with regards to a forum name. Both WWW and Argentina will/can remain active during the second step above, as we continue our overall transition.
That's the entire, three-step process for the mechanics of the merger, should it take place. Obviously, the real work here for everyone is going to be the reorganization of old stickied threads and information. I'm hoping for plenty of engagement and effort put in by the larger community, allowing for a more open and connected forum. EQ, can you confirm that the Inclusivity Rules which currently apply to NES only (but not IOT) will be extended to the merged forum? I'm obviously not a huge fan of inclusion rules, but as defined, I'm generally okay with the large amount of interpretive leeway they give to the game mod, and it's better than eliminating them entirely.
All stickies will remain for the time being, but I have been looking into a revision of those rules as I personally believe that those sort of things have always been handled best in-house rather than enforced by moderator staff. In general, subforum specific rules will be included in the "Here's Your Moderators" thread I'm planning (to replace New Sheriff in Town post), but I'm not planning on making it even half as long as the rules at your local swimming pool. Though there will be no diving allowed.

Lol Ailedhoo. I meant, I agreed with lucky, which means it must be the end of the world. Not about the merge.
So the merge is happening?
IOT absolutely has rules around inclusivity. They may be worded a little differently, but have the same overall intent.
The current status of the vote does lend itself to be considered as that the merger will be a go. However, we still do have some time left, so we're not closing off the discussion/voting just yet.
