I usually wait before going to war if I can to avoid that situation.
Problem is that on Deity you usually can't start war in Medeival, you can kill AI before and you can kill AI after, but not in Medeival (unless you have some very serious plan)

Was there any changes in production or did techs get cheaper?
I had to step down a difficulty (not an issue in it self).
I've not played that much with this patch but it feels like I'm getting further behind in infrastructure and not able to keep up even in capital, a lot of cities are way behind.
Current game authority->fealthy Japan (supposedly not a tech monster), yes hammers could have been better in capital but ... yeah

Epic Gamespeed? If yes, tech cost was changed from 200% of normal speed to 150%. I agree it's too fast, the dates never fit and even at 200 I got everywhere earlier than usual, so if you want to change it like I do go to mods/(2) community balance overhaul)/balance changes/tech and edit techcostchanges.sql
the line UPDATE GameSpeeds SET ResearchPercent = 150 WHERE Type = 'GAMESPEED_EPIC'; is what you want to change. replace 150 with 175 or anything in between to something not quite new or old, or go back to 200

Ahh thanks yes, it was really noticable, and not just me that found game weird.
Have there been any discussion about if or is the new techspeed for epic set?
Did this also speed up Marathon by a similar amount?

I think that change happened before this version. Several ones before, maybe. Marathon and Quick weren't sped up, it's just that Epic had higher tech costs compared to production than the other speeds did. I also dislike it and change it to suit my mood.

Hrm well something does seem odd, I'm a lot earlier to rifling than I'm used to, atleast 50 turns.
Got a math sling shot from great library and instead of having to delay glib I got mining and part of bronze working as well.
These two, one early and one mid-late example, implies that tech is going a bit bananas.

Edit:
found it, may version
"
Gamespeeds
  • Epic speed tech/GA scaling now 150 (was 200) "

Note that this change actually removed the anomaly of Epic tech speed being at 200% with all other modifiers (production etc) at 150%. As for marathon, those modifiers were already the same, they weren't changed. The Epic feeling you get now is nearer to the intended proportion of tech/building (before, at least well-developed cities could easily keep up with building every building, now you have to choose more, as it is in Standard also).

I don't feel it's about choosing, it's more like, ok what are the most fundamental buildings, I mean, sure I could skip monument, shrine, council and granary and "choose" to build an important whatever building instead.
The change feels a lot more extreme than described in numbers.
I can't believe what it's like for those playing with less production focus.
I guess I'll try Marathon instead and see if it is more to my liking.

Could anyone upload this version again for me, since the link in the op is dead. That would be great. Cheers
