I disapprove of the avatar increase but the PM thing is awesome!!! However, my PM box says I still only have 200 allowed?

That might have something to do with the cache, like with the Christmas smilies sticking around for some people. Mine said 200 but I refreshed a page at some point and now it says 300.

Anyway, the PM space increase allows me to be lazier about cleaning out PMs, so thanks a million, admins!

I disagree with you. Adding smileys to your posts strenghten and support the things you were saying, while animated avatars don't add nothing to a debate, they're just distracting and nothing else.
I saw many Internet forums which allowed them, but IMO there was no good in them.
