Anyone who picks all 4 top seeds in the West is crazy. :crazyeye:

All of those series could go either way.

If all series could go either way, then picking the top seeds as winners makes as much sense as picking 1-2-3-4-5-6 for the 6/49, which is as likely a result as any other...

At any rate, you can hardly blame Pasi for not picking the Flames, given his track record on the matter for the last 3 years.

Well, the way I see it, picking the top seeds is like taking the safe way out. So picking the top 4 in the West is like trying to take the safe way out, when obviously things are going to be very unpredictable.

Predicting a sweep in the West is just as crazy :p

So that makes you really crazy.

Last year I had a terrible first round followed by steady improvement in following rounds. I attributed this to the fact that I don't watch the regular season and therefore didn't have a good idea of what the teams were like until after I had seen them play for myself.

This year, between work and trying to find a place to watch the games that aren't on NBC (i.e. pretty much all of them) I'll probably only see about two full periods of first round action.

That said, I'll still be along with my picks in a few hours . . .

Last year did have some crazy first rounds. A lot of higher seeds were shown the door.

The West is going to be crazy through all the rounds :scared:

Okay, here are my picks for the first round, for what they're worth:

Buffalo in five
Tampa Bay in five
Atlanta in five
Pittsburgh in five
Detroit in six
Anaheim in six
Vancouver in six
Nashville in five

Tampa Bay in 5? :crazyeye:

Hey, if Boise State can beat Oklahoma anything's possible . . .

Though I should point out that my series length predictions are pretty meaningless. Basically I'm fairly confident about the winners I picked to go five, and less confident about the ones I picked to need six.

It depends on how you look at it. Boise State had to go undefeated through a twelve game series just to get the shot. But that's OT, the explanation lies in the second paragraph . . .

ok, count me in as well :)
